any other suggestions? I do not want another version of Ursonate.....

He's done lots of stuff other than versions of "Ursonate". Check out his Vocalor album ,for instance.

isidore isou's 'poeme lettristes 1944-1999' and henri chopin's 'les mirifiques tundras and compaigne' LPs on algha marghen are my faves among the many 'sound poetry' records I bought from them.

also john cage's 62 mesostics for merce cunningham 2 Cd on hat art but that has been deleted.

David Moss has done some work in this vein. Cage has another mesostics recording included on "Roaratorio", but I'm not sure if it's still in print -- the mesostics pieces, although syntactically abstract, do include entire words, so I'm not sure if that exceeds your threshold (ie: if you're just looking for pure phonetic pieces a la "Ursonate"). If words are OK, you might also want to look into Charles Amirkhanian and Phil Minton.

Was Sheila Chandra a Dadaist or a Surrealist?

Hinduist.

referring once back to ubuweb: Demetrio Stratos.

I'd also recommend Charles Amirkhanian's album 'Lexical Music', if you can find a copy. Text poems recited and subjected to tape delay layering and manipulations. Less furious id than the Ursonate, but more Rainbow-Chug-Bandit-Bomb.

also, I recently discovered this album by Fatima Miranda and she's now in my buy-on-sight category.

Wow, I'd never heard Fatima Miranda before checking out that site, but I really liked what I heard.

Other recommendations for this thread, based on what her music brought to mind (keeping to the "extra-lingual" emphasis): Joan Labarbara, Somei Satoh, a group called Timbre (they're on the Leo label), Sainkho Namchylak, Tenko.

Their records are pretty much impossible to find outside of Russia/Ukraine, but if you can locate anything by a group called Duo Zikr, it's also in a similar vein.
