Well?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm in Toronto.

may pang (maypang), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

What's a FAP?

may pang (maypang), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

A get-together

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do they call it a FAP?

may pang (maypang), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

FAP = short for Fancy a Pint?

A get-together would be a good idea. Sundar, when are you heading out of town again? I was going to post something like this earlier but forgot. Should we also do this on ILE?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hoping to leave on Monday.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 18 December 2003 06:03 (twenty-one years ago)

bring the noise bring the fap

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 18 December 2003 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

So when d'y'all want to do this? Friday night?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

friday actually isn't so good for me, how's saturday?

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I would also prefer Saturday.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim and I were planning on seeing LOTR on Saturday but its a better day then Friday.

I hear Mark is back in town as well.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Well Saturday is better for me anyways.
Where? The new and improved and BIGGER C'est What?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Al's Cask Ale.
or elsewhere, you know.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmmm...i'll be around this weekend.

cybele (cybele), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

join us

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

where ma chere?

cybele (cybele), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

je ne sais pas! i don't know from t.o. hotspots no more!

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Both Mark P and Mark S(lutsky) will be in town. If Saturday is better for everyone I'll try to make it, though I'm not sure if I'll be free. But C'est What should be the place so's we can experience the new largeness.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

And yes, yes, I hope I can make it because I really want to meet cybele, too! And I hope May Pang shows up too! BEST! TO! FAP! EVAH?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

best anything evah!

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

The largeness is nice. Sadly the prices are still steep. Aside from beer pie. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm beer pie.
Eye's listings aren't up but we would be running aganst the Snoop Dogg show.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

The only bad spot, no more chalkboards in the bathroom.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll just have to bring our own chalk.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

For our safety you should leave your little blackberries/tungstens at home. ;)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

so can this all be confirmed...??

cybele (cybele), Thursday, 18 December 2003 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I think we can go to the LOTR matinee instead Zac, and then do the FAP too, yeah? So looks like we're in. I've already experienced the new largeness though Sean, sorry. Ok so we should sit on the new side or be nostalgic with the old side? (I am cool either way) for the time - is 7/ 7:30 good? cybele, may - you know what the rest of us goofs look like?

Kim (Kim), Friday, 19 December 2003 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I wear my bright red Rheos jersey again, to be a landmark?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Go for it.
Pick a time someone. If your fashionably late you won't get a comfy (and clean) couch spot infront of the new fireplace.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

7pm.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Not too early to start drinking, but not too late to order the beer pie.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Its never too late to order beer pie! Its like the VICTORY BURGER.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

:/

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 19 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the saturday night before christmas?!? are you all mentalists?!

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 19 December 2003 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(nb: i will try to come!!)

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 19 December 2003 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

So which part are we sitting in? (It's near Union Station, right? Or King?)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Saturday, 20 December 2003 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

tis on front st. east of union.
i fear i shan’t be able to make it, tho.
(well it all depends on when mah boyz leave for waterloo)

dyson (dyson), Saturday, 20 December 2003 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Use the entrance on Front street just east of Church.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 20 December 2003 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Though I'm not a regular ilxor or anything, I wish I could meet you all--but alas, tomorrow night is def. out of the picture.

btw, I had a "Sundar Sighting" a few weeks ago, at Bathurst subway (don't worry, Sundar, I only recognize you from some pics that were posted here a long time ago). I was actually going to introduce myself but (no lie) my bus was coming. Besides, I was having a truly hellish clothes and hair day all around--"office guy with no clue how to be office guy" is the official term, I believe--and he looked like a rock star. For real!

s woods, Saturday, 20 December 2003 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sundar's look is called "thug passion".

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 20 December 2003 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll say!

: )

s woods, Saturday, 20 December 2003 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Good thing for Sundar I can't find the thug passion picture I took of him from when Bryan was in town.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 20 December 2003 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"Once you go Zakk, you never go back"

yes ok - so since no one is deciding anything, let's say it'll be in the new "largeness", so go to the door on the south side of the street that says "C'est What" (at where exactly - Front and Church? right across the street from "The Hot House" restaurant in any case) and go down the stairs and the new bit is immediately on your left - there are pool tables and a fireplace in the middle and I guess we'll be over there somewhere. If anyone needs an obvious landmark, I can wear this dumbass santa hat I had on at the office all day (I am now known as Santa Barbie) so yeah, that should sort of stick out.

Scott, so when *can* you meet us? That would be good to do sometime.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 20 December 2003 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

First FAP in the '04 - I'll do my best to be there, promise!

s woods, Saturday, 20 December 2003 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a newbie to ILX and Toronto and wd love to come visit. What do people look like? Has anyone met my friend from home, @d@m?

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, here are the ghosts of Toronto FAPS past feauturing some of the usual suspects. Myself, Sundar, Sean, Noodles (Zac), Dyson (show up and find out his mysteriously secret first name), Mark P and a special appearance by Bryan. Hope this works.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Hopefully that little montage doesn't scare new people away. More girls besides me would be good.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Toronto ILXors, please look after my best friend Chuck Tatum if he attends, he is "good people".

Ta,

@d@ml

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

See? He's also twee as fuck!! ;)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

heh. ok - last call for this. FAP starts in approximately 2 hrs. I guess I should go shower or something.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 20 December 2003 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

(Pretty late, I'm guessing by how silent the thread's been.)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 21 December 2003 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Just in case anyone is wondering what they missed.

Sundar, who called the FAP, is extremely happy to see us.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sundar-s.jpg

He's so happy he decides to become Sundar Claus, and asks us what we want for Xmas.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sean-with-sundar-claus-s.jpg

Meanwhile, dyson's busy telling the story about the mobile hot tub, the foam, and the guy with the shrooms, and why he's now in the witness relocation program (note ginchy new haircut).
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/dyson-tells-foam-story-s.jpg

Chuck is now wondering why he actually showed up.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/chuck-s.jpg

Slutsky knows why he has come: to master the pour (Creemore! The beer of journalists!)
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/slutsky-masters-the-pour-s.jpg

Kim knows something bad is about to happen. That's why she has that evil grin. Sundar and cybele are unaware of the forthcoming evil.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/evil-kim-s.jpg

Sean threatens the photographer.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sean-wields-knife-s.jpg

Bad move, because Sundar gets a brilliant idea, and goes on a killing spree! Here he menaces Kim with his own knife!
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sundar-threatens-kim-s.jpg

Immediately afterward, he finishes off Slutsky, bringing an end to the evening.
http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sundar-kills-slutsky-s.jpg

See you next year, FAPpers!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 21 December 2003 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Very dramatic! Bravo!

Andrew (enneff), Sunday, 21 December 2003 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hm. Maybe I'll show up for the next one.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 21 December 2003 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe dyson will tell the foam story again!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 21 December 2003 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

this looks great :-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 22 December 2003 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Im watching Exit Wounds with Steven Segal, filmed what looks like just outside of C'est What. Complete with Pizza Pizza and DVP signs.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

NB: Leafs 4, Habs 2.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, what happened to the one where Sundar was sitting on my lap?

Kim (Kim), Monday, 22 December 2003 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Chuck, by the looks of things I am beating you in the Great Sideburns Race.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 December 2003 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Slutsky looks gangsta in that first pic!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 December 2003 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

"ginchy"????

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 December 2003 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ginchy as in "wonderfully good or attractive". Not the other more lurid sense.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 December 2003 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

aww, thanx dude. i'd take either meaning as a compliment.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 22 December 2003 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he is. Otherwise it wouldn't have stolen the show for the first 5 minutes you were there.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I promise I will never come to a fap again. You guys have so much more fun when I'm not there! < /sniff sniff>

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

More piggyback rides is all you need to bring.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Bryan, awwwww. You were missed.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, no one wanted to sit on Sundar Claus's lap.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i dunno, sean seemed pretty eager (see pic).

dyson (dyson), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Was Sundar all scary like he was in July? I'll give any of you guys a piggyback ride anytime you like. It's nice that some new people were out for this one. I hope they'll come next time I make it out (which I'm hoping will be sooner than later).

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Sean really looks like Blaine Capatch in those pics!
http://www3.mb.sympatico.ca/~bshurb/Capatch.jpg

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Sundar has never been scary, just full of Thug Passion.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he was kinda scary when I was last there, all belligerent after a few seabreezes or whatever he was drinking, then he sang Styx's "Renegade" to me in its entirety in the bathroom. I'M STILL SHAKING A LITTLE BIT.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes then, I suppose he did sing Styx. Heart too.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The eye glitter tempered the scariness though.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I just regret that the combination of lighting, flash and drink made it pretty much impossible to actually capture sundar's glitter with the camera. It was fantastic.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

http://ox.eicat.ca/~scarruthers/xmas2003fap/sundarsings.jpg

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Band name should "Sundar and The Passionate Thugs".

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Now you know why Sean's Camera fills me with the phear.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh you big baby. Notice I didn't post any pictures of you here.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't stop you from taking them.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

:)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

good times!

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 22 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Dy-no-MITE!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Creemore is a fine beer.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 December 2003 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously, it was really fun and I was glad to meet all of you! WOOOOHOOOHoihsdiojsik

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 22 December 2003 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Please to send me pictures of Mrak Sultsky. I am seraching without results and help is urgent!!!!

Hlep me!

@ f@n (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi -- I've just got back online after a week and wanted to say cheers, I had fun, am glad I showed up, etc.! Since then I've spent Christmas on a farm with more cows than people for company, and been taken (forcibly) to see a Platinum Blonde gig. Happy new year.
P.S. @d@m, you can NEVER win.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Monday, 29 December 2003 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

it was really nice to meet you chuck!

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it was! Glad you came out. Forced to see Platinum Blonde - wow, I'm so sorry.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I know some people who would think thats a privledge. Okay sorry, I know one person who would think thats a privledge.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheers! It was the cheesiest thing ever, and I've seen Tears for Fears live -- twice. I was there because a friend of a friend of mine is "late 80s Canadian teen hearthrob" Paris Black (so sez AMG). He was supporting Platinum Blonde. I had to be his concert photographer. He's seriously minging:

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't remember, I don't recall.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, neither did anyone else. Someone vomited on my foot while he was singing.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Was this at Kee to Bala or something?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahah

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Now that I've heard Chuck talk, imagining him recount the above tale is particularly amusing.

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Chuck has a lovely baritone voice, doesn't he? As young men, we did Elvis impressions together. Things are different now.
