Go on. And they have to be good cos I'm told the last interview he did was with a dimwit.

"When did rocking out become uncool for Yo La Tengo?"

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

When you coming back to Halifax to collect your shoes?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Sooooo... you just got back from Japan. I'll bet that was wild, huh?
D'jeet any sushi, huh?

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

His cover of "Gates of Steel" on the _And Nothing..._ tour at the GAMH was brilliant. No question. Just thank him for me.

Hm - haven't read if he got feedback from Prince on Dump's covers.
Did he?

Chris Hill (Chris Hill), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you had your christmas fuck yet?

man, Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Was your early stuff better? Why?

man, Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Did he see the black kids breakdancing to 'Nuclear War' at the front of his Somerset house gig? How cool/unlikely was that?

laticsmon (laticsmon), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, sorry, those last four were too late. That Prince question is a good one mind, I should have thought of that. And the breaking one! That is ace.

His holiday started as soon as I put the phone down so it's a fair betting he'll be getting his "Christmas fuck" tonight. What a lovely example of a man he seems to be. Thank you, James out of Yo La Tengo.

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Why won't he release the Dump album that has all the Simpsons samples on it? At least leak it onto the Internet or something. PLEASE!!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

DAMN!! Too late!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh? I had no idea such a thing existed, but now I MUST HEAR this.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Ask him if he think's Susie Ibarra is hot.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

does yo la tengo plan to hook up with ray davies again? if so, will it be soon?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 18 December 2003 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

re ray davies: what was it like doing a concert with him? what's mr. davies' general impression of american indie groups (like yo la tengo)?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"When did rocking out become uncool for Yo La Tengo?"

haven't seen them live recently then?

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 18 December 2003 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Ask him if Christmas will ever reunite to play a Christmas show.

dlp9001, Friday, 19 December 2003 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ask him how many times a week he eats at Two Boots. No, seriously, don't ask him that. It's just that when I worked there he used to order take out all the time, it was kinda cool to see him around.

hstencil, Friday, 19 December 2003 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought he'd moved? (I used to live right down the street.) Maybe I'm wrong.

dlp9001, Friday, 19 December 2003 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe he did, this was like 6 years ago.

hstencil, Friday, 19 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

two boots? -- awww, i know you, stencil!

i was just telling a friend about the yo la tengo new year's show at two boots in '93 (well, i was telling the story of waking up on fire, and how it was a few days before that show and i still had a mark on my face from the pillow starting to melt to me and how i came up with interesting things to tell people that the mark was)

i'd ask him about his cover of the alpaca brothers' song "the lie" since i think that's one of those total "lost new zealand classic" songs, and if he ever met the people from that band and etc. yes, i'd ask him the geekiest question possible!

yetimike (McGonigal), Friday, 19 December 2003 06:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ask him if he, as a child, liked to run around the house in his underwear and horrify his mother by yanking his shit up into a T-back; or, let a piece of chocolate melt in his mouth partway, confront his mother with the chocolate in hand, and say all balefully, "Mom I shat my pants."

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Friday, 19 December 2003 06:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Because he strikes me as that kind of guy.

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Friday, 19 December 2003 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ray Davies was a great experience but there are no plans for any future teamups (ditto Robyn Hitchcock and Neil Innes). I put a moratorium on Japan questions and Christmas (the band or the holiday) questions. I really wish I'd asked about Dump though. Tsk me.

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

surface noise: I was referring to their recent records.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 19 December 2003 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

oh hi Mike! I was too shy to say hi to you when I was in Seattle with (Smog) this summer. Sorry about that. I hope you're well.

hstencil, Friday, 19 December 2003 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you had your christmas fuck yet?

Hanukkah fuck, surely.
