kne's 1st was incredibly diverse, but hung together well.

kens' new one, touched, is beautiful. V. v. diverse, he is Alex Chilton moving on from Big Star's Third. Favourites from the new one: The Lover's Hymn, sung in heartbreaking falsetto. Fireflies is the Surf's Up for our generation if their is justice.

I've had this album since July and have played it everyday.

Beautiful.

Who wins? THE LISTENER, duh.

This is Ken's 3rd album, isn't it? Shit. Never mind his umpteen collaborative efforts. Jon, to my knowledge, has only a EP-esque album of covers to his name at this time.

six months pass...
Ken's Touched is a great record. Jon hasn't released a full album, but The Perfect Size EP is no slouch. I rather enjoy Jon's little side project with Joe Bass "Jeanjacket Shotgun". I'm hoping Jon gets the chance to release a full album in the future (he's an old friend and I know he's capable of topping Touched)

isn't it JA who covered Beautiful Stranger? or am I mixed up? anyways what a great song to cover, but maybe would have been better to wait a few years

You're correct. Jon did cover Beautiful Stranger on his last ep "6 1/2", which I think as a whole is a little weak. Yes, maybe he should've waited a few years and covered Madonna's "Burning Up"(grate toon) in the meantime.

thirteen years pass...

14 years later "Touched" is still the best of the bunch, but Ken's "Soft Commands" and "Danzig in the Moonlight" and Jon's "Songs from the Year of Our Demise" are all wonderful. Really seems they save their best material for their solo careers.

life was fucked I still embraced it...
