it was quite something. each one came on to the stage and put on one track and then paved way for the next person. sound stupid? well yes but it was for charity you see. and it was great fun to see all these luminaries under one roof. highlights of who played and what:
Arthur Baker: 'Got It All' by Blowfelt
Coldcut's Jonathan Moore: 'YMCA' by ??? (Spanish version)
Derek Dahlarge: 'Let The Music Play' by Shannon - BLOODY ACE!
Erol Alkan: 'Crosstown Traffic' by Jimi Hendrix Experience - this sounded particularly brilliant and got a great reaction
Freelance Hellraiser: 'Money For Nothing' by Dire Straits mashed up with 'Roll Out' by Ludacris - classic of course
Go Home Productions: 'Ray Of Gob' - his Madonna/Sex Pistols mash-up sounding better than ever
Ils: 'Music/Where Are You?' - his breaks tune with the bass guitar you know, pretty cool
Lottie: 'Raspberry Beret' by Prince - she actually wore a raspberry beret as well
Osymyso: a fantastic remix of 'Walking In The Air' - i kid you not, god i love this man
DJ IdioteQue: the 'dancing, drugs and pounding techno music' track that Soulwax used to cane, well judged choice
Soulwax: absolutely rocked the joint like i've never witnessed with a phenomenal mash-up of 'Higher State Of Consciousness' and 'House Of Jealous Lovers' and 'Girl You Really Got Me Goin' and about 3 other tracks - VERY impressive, i must see them now
Wall Of Sound guy played extra long version of Primal Scream's 'Come Together', it was a bit special
Yoda: miscellaneous classic breaks and scratching, very good
Zoot Woman's Jacques Lu Cont: 'It's My Life' by Talk Talk, re-affirming my belief that the original is still the best, glorious, and i am dead jealous of Jacques' boyish good looks
best time at Cargo i've ever had probably - it was absolutely rammed
