Can there be surprises when the writers interact with their audience on a daily basis and said audience is mostly other writers?

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

That they managed two factual mistakes in the "No Good Advice" blurb (Pop Stars was ITV not BBC, and NGA was the second single).

Nick H (Nick H), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

How appropriate that Chris Ott's e-mail address includes the letters "rr"...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Appropriate because he has Time Warner broadband? What's that supposed to mean?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Every single fucking Top Singles List of 2003 that I've seen so far has exactly the same fucking singles on it!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I noticed that too. And I noticed that they're all great singles. So what's the complaint?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

The sound it makes, Kenan.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i secretly like 'where is the love'. there you have it.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Friday, 19 December 2003 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i love where is the love and pon the river.

but the singles list itself ain't bad.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 19 December 2003 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i also think that fergie, the girl in the group, is really hot. sorry.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Friday, 19 December 2003 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Why isn't the Alicia Keys single on any of these lists? It's miles better than fucking "Crazy In Love"

LondonLee (LondonLee), Friday, 19 December 2003 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hold it right there, ll! that single is harmless at most.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Friday, 19 December 2003 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the Top 20 singles list was good but unfortunately I like their worst single of 2003 better than their best single of 2003 so it's spoiled it rather :(

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 20 December 2003 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

These sounds like a generic ILM-centric list.

David Allen, Saturday, 20 December 2003 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just so pleased to see that people enjoy the same music as me. keep at it Stylus.

nick.K (nick.K), Saturday, 20 December 2003 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that when things reflect "generic ILM"-ness, they're dismissed for it (poseurs! biters!), and when they don't, they're dismissed for the opposite reasons (clueless! rockist!).

What's cooler than being cool?

spittle (spittle), Saturday, 20 December 2003 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

(which is really just another way of agreeing with nick.K)

spittle (spittle), Saturday, 20 December 2003 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ice cold?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Saturday, 20 December 2003 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that when ILM concensus reflects public opinion in general, ILM describes everyone else's opinion as "ILM-centric". seriously, can we get over ourselves here?

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 20 December 2003 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Three Stylus writers are regular ILM contributors (mysef, Dom & Swygart), and another four or five post here occasionally (Naive Teen Idol, Todd Burns, Sam Bloch), plus Dave Q is a contibutor. Another 20-odd writers who don't use ILM much if at all voted for that poll.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 20 December 2003 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The best thing about the piece (apart from my t.a.T.u. write-up, obviously) is the three pictures to accompany the three worst singles of the year.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

The other great thing about our top twenty- no singles by He's Been Shot Nine Times!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

wasn't 'I remember me' released in 2001?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I post here more than occasionally!

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Saturday, 20 December 2003 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Less than 10,000 posts a month = 'occasionally'!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 20 December 2003 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I post here when there's something to do with me or Primal Scream

Sam Bloch, Saturday, 20 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I post here more than I write for Stylus. And that isn't much, but then again I only voted in the albums poll AND I still like Where Is The Love?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 20 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry I left you out, Matt! I think of you as ILMer first and foremost.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 20 December 2003 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)
