sally timms , johnny cash, kraftwerk , George Harrison, Ryan ADams, Jarvis Cocker , britney spears or the pope

I get the feeling Momus would like us to say Takako Minekawa.

But I think Princess Superstar would be more interesting.

Nitsuh, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i was trying to realistic with possible collaborators;)

gareth, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hmmm...

Well...

Not including myself, who is going to show up at the toronto date armed with a tambourine and an array of bez style faces, I would have to say:

Adolf Eichmann, Neil Tennant, Cornelius, Bobby Gillespie, Daniel Johnston, William Shatner and Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Of course, it would be nice, if he were to do a Sonny and Cher style duet with Cher on Believe. Momus echoing after Cher. Do you believe in life after love? Momus: Be be be be be believe....

porch monkey, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Momus: Dirty you are nutcakes. I love your music. You are nutcakes. I love your music.

Would be pretty cool...

porch monkey, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry for mutiple shot postings: the above references Ol' Dirty Bastard.

I don't know who he should collaborate with (since I've lost touch with Momus after _Ping Pong_), but I do know that he's playing in Boston next month with Tara Jane O'Neil and Stereo Total. Unless Ms. O'Neil (member of Retsin / Sonora Pine / Rodan) has changed her MO recently, it should be an "interesting" mix of flavors.

I would like to see Mr. Currie get in cahoots with someone less interested in the process of creation. Someone less "artificial", perhaps. (Please note I am talking out of my sphincter right now.)

David Raposa, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Either Comus or a re-formed Magazine minus Howard Devoto.

Andy, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Which orifice should David Raposa talk out of? ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Tweenies!

jel, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A beat-box and protools delivered countrywestern album w/ Ann Magnuson as June Carter to his Johnny Cash.

Jason, Monday, 17 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Daniel Johnston as June Cash. That would be surreal.

I have three answers:

  • Land Of The Loops -- hip-hoppish indie pop Slabco records style would suit Momus's vocals very well, me thinks
  • Rob Crow -- Optiganally Yours in particular
  • Moby, Moebius, and Magma: only for the tongue twisting alliteration

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oops

brian macdonald, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DUH! Britney Spears of course. Look what he's done with Kahimi! Imagine Britney saying things like " When I dream I get mistaken memories of medieval manhatten"

Pennysong Hanle y, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i nominate moums and hanle y, or momus and axl.

Geoff, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ann Magnuson

good answer!

gareth, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fuck, I zap briefly over from dissections of world war three on ILE to find everyone talking about me (and some impersonating me) on ILM! How touching!

Momus, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

By the way, I'm really wondering just now about what to do on this tour. Basically I have two options:

* Entertaining the troops. This is a grim time, so people want light relief. Stereo Total are a party band, so I should go with the flow and just be crazy and funny.

* Feeling your pain. I should sing a 54 minute version of 'What Will Death Be Like?' on acoustic guitar, followed by every song I've written which predicts doom and desolation (including 'Mistaken Memories of Medieval Manhattan').

Momus, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And follow it up with Brel's "My Death " but change it to be "Your Death" ?

Pennysong Hanle y, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Mistaken Memories ..." would sound damn weird right now.

Actually I think Momus should team up with Jay-Z and do a medley of "Girlie Action" and "Girls, Girls, Girls".

Robin Carmody, Tuesday, 18 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I say do both extremes. The human comedy, in the broadest sense of the term, allows for it.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 19 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what about sabrina's boys boys boys?

Geoff, Wednesday, 19 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ten months pass...
yximalloo, scratch pet land perhaps? Honestly though the most exciting collaborations are with little or unknown artists where things are much more open. Oh, and (haha) Jim O'rourke on bass.

David, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Stephen 'tintin' Duffy. Absolutely, no excuses ... Please.

June Hobbs, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How about a duet Neil Tennant? You could cover "To All the Girls I've Loved Before"!
