Though I don't agree with everything (particularly in the second list), this is by far the most interesting year-end list thing of any publication I've seen thus far. EW's music criticism is very underrated, I think.

Entertainment Weekly rules! They named
Original Pirate Material the best album of 2002, and Entertainment Weekly is an American magazine! NOBODY here in the US has ever heard of The Streets!

Funny that one guy has Costello's North as one of the worst of the year and the other has it as one of the best. Personally I have all of EC's cds and I think it sucks bigtime, his worst outside of maybe the Juliet Letters or Goodbye Cruel World.

"Interesting" obv being a relative term. Cripes, these pussies should look beyond what everyone is hyping.

I don't know. EW is a pop magazine, and thus, it has a very pop year-end list.

Neil Drumming writes for them as does Wil Hermes. I'd rather have seen their lists. They did have more lists--best jazz was uh, where did I put my issue, Wayne Shorter, and best world music was some Argentinian they described as folktronic Stereolab--Juana Molina or something. That's off the top of my head. i've misplaced my issue.

Amazing that this is a world in which Basement Jaxx get major respect from EW and basically get the cold shoulder (basically) from Spin.
