may pang (maypang), Saturday, 20 December 2003 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight, all I've listened to is Whitesnake's Slide it In (and realized for the first time it's very much an AC/DC homage and that "Slow and Easy" is total Highway to Hell style disco-metal), and Traffic's "Light Up or Leave Me Alone" on repeat for about the 6th time now..... I'm sure I'll regret it in the morning

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 20 December 2003 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Tommy James- I think We're Alone Now

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Saturday, 20 December 2003 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Impossible. That song just begs for sober listening love.

may pang (maypang), Saturday, 20 December 2003 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ELO - "Don't Walk Away", where've you BEEN ALL MY LIFE?

may pang (maypang), Saturday, 20 December 2003 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I bought a Felix Da Housecat disc based solely on having heard it at a friend's house (drooooonk) and thinking to m'self "Thissh issh really goodishhh!") Bought it at the next opportunity, played it and cannot recall why I though it was so excellent.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 20 December 2003 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Oasis to thread!

Jay Kid (Jay K), Saturday, 20 December 2003 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Smokie, Montreaux Album & Abba, The Album

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The first time I listened to the Atari Teenage Riot's Burn Berlin Burn was at the tail-end of a two-day bender and I was pretty messed up. I thought it was brilliant.
Two days later, and sober, I listened to the album again and realized it wasn't brilliant. In fact, it hurt my head like the barking of 100 dogs.

Christian Rawk (Christian Rawk), Saturday, 20 December 2003 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Anything by REO Speedwagon.

Or The Strokes.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 20 December 2003 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I like AlexNyc the best. Your're cool. Get a plain ticket to SF and let's hang out.

cs appleby (cs appleby), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Lot's of house records need a licquor license to be heard well.

cs appleby (cs appleby), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Broheems might regret posting that FOREVER.

cs appleby (cs appleby), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, Alex has pointed to a real problem here. We have a Felix Da Housecat mix CD which will never be played again. And yet, it sounded great when I first heard it (drunk). Perhaps Da Housecat himself is drunk when he makes these records. No wonder they are used to advertise beer.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Master of Puppets - Metallica

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

anything by the Replacements, but especially the one with "Here Comes a Regular" on it.

Oh and "Piano Man" by Billy Joel, obviously. But that's a song, not an album. "AND THE PIAANNNOO SOUNDS LIKE A CAR-NI-VAL!!!!!!!!"

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Saturday, 20 December 2003 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Regggggaeton.

Anything by Andrew WK.
25 Suaves "1938"

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 21 December 2003 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Jay Kid OTM : Oasis.
May Pang : are you nuts? The earlier in the morning you play 'Immigrant Song' the better it sounds.

Berkeley Sackett (calstars), Sunday, 21 December 2003 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I am drunk and in love with Fairport Convention!!!!!!!

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 21 December 2003 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian - you have made a wise choice! (two wise choices, in fact!)

Broheems (diamond), Sunday, 21 December 2003 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

With a lot of older hits like Men at Work, Berlin, etc. -- stuff you'd get on your average college file-sharing network -- it's easy when you're drunk to forget about the complicatedness of your relationship with nostaligia and just soak up the tunes.

Clarke B., Monday, 22 December 2003 06:00 (twenty-one years ago)

fairport sound great undrunk!

gaz (gaz), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel like my mom when i'm sober and listening to them though, gaz. and feeling like my mom... is not kosher.

Ian Johnson (orion), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

May Pang : are you nuts? The earlier in the morning you play 'Immigrant Song' the better it sounds.

There's such a fine line between early in the morning and late into the night.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The first time I heard Jamiroquai, I was drunk at a party, and I thought it was GREBT! And I still think it's good, provided you're drunk at a party. Take either of those ingredients away, and it's pretty boring.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I should probably add that if anyone ever asks me if I like Led Zeppelin I usually reply by saying "I don't mind Immigrant song."

may pang (maypang), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I say, "Led Zeppelin III is my favorite," and meter their reaction.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 22 December 2003 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Prodigy, "The Fat of the Land"

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 22 December 2003 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)
