I hear Guided by Voices "Teenage FBI" as a slow, sweet ballad with just an acoustic guitar and two-part harmony.

i heard a version of 'oh little town of bethlehem' last night where the lyrics were sung to the tune of 'house of the rising sun'. it fitted so well that i can't for the life of me remember how the orginal tune goes.

I always imagine Nirvana's "Lithium" as a bebop song, complete with scat solo

Last night I heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit" differently in my head. I think my version was much better.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

Haha I always hear the words of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to the tune of the "Jeopardy" theme song

For some reason I imagine "Believe" by Cher as sung by Creed, God help me. =(

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh God. And I thought that song couldn't get any worse.

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a perfect fit too =(

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus. you have demons in your head.

tom cleveland (tom cleveland), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Are there any other songs you hear sung by Creed?

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Dame Fortune smiles upon me in that there are no other songs I hear in this manner.

However I'm punished by working on a TV show that requires watching lots of Barenaked Ladies concert footage. =(

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my. I feel bad for you.

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It's worse than you can imagine, especially when they rap or dance.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahh!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine someone slinging forth hip hop slang in the flattest way possible, i.e. someone who is completely unaware of how out of touch they sound. Then imagine someone doing this and thinking it's hilarious. Now give them a healthy dose of the "theater student" gene.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe you need therapy?

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

An unfortunate possibility.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm lucky. I hear an even better version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

You are far luckier than I.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

my internal version of "slave 4 u" is better than the OG because its just a loop of the best intrumental parts. i love the track so much, i really cant imagine any singer at all being able to pull off singing over it.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 25 December 2003 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Aja you should hear the Moog Cookbook's funk version of SLTS

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 25 December 2003 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You are far luckier than I.

Yes I am. Too bad you can't hear it. The guitar in the instrumental part of the song is the same chords but the way it is played is much better.

Aja you should hear the Moog Cookbook's funk version of SLTS

What is that?

Aja (aja), Thursday, 25 December 2003 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I've also been imagining several Bob Dylan tunes as fuzzed-up garage rock numbers, much like Dan Melchior or Billy Childish. I think they'd be improved immeasurably.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 25 December 2003 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

SLTS = "Smells Like Teen Spirit." You could have figured that out yourself, you know.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 25 December 2003 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a dream version of "Psycho Killer" done exactly like Peggy Lee's "Fever," with the walking bass and the finger snaps. Really, it would be brilliant.
