Hip Whips, anyone?

Has anyone the record from swedish lo-fo soul outfit Hip Whips. Just caught a song on tv yesterday, 'Stay With Me Forever', and it was AMAZING! It's a trio, the singer has huge eyebrows and a dry, great voice, and he's playing an old, wooden KORG pseudo-hammond-like keyboard. The bass player is straight as a vicar and the drummer is sloppy as hell. Beau-tiful. Anyone heard the whole album?

It's INCREDIBLE! I just wrote the label who sent it to me to let them know how much... I had heard "Stay With Me..." before and while it has a luscious vibe it seemd "too retro", but in the contextof the album it is a stunning centerpiece.

As a whole, with the little interludes between songs, with that beautiful brittle-bright vs fuzzy-murky classic production it is SUCH a timewarp, it is SO very 1967 (The Band, The Stones, Van & Them) that it does not even qualify as retro. It is an album that seems to have actually, literally travelled through time.

Makes me very happy, highly recommended!
