Sorry - I know this will have been discussed before, but need to vent my spleen.

So it was a toss up between the Darkness (a novelty band and the epitome of the Emperor's New Clothes metaphor) and an REM-at-their-worst-style, inappropriate, miserable Tears For Fears cover, which only won because it has been rendered as an apparently meaningful, 'beaudiful' piano ballad.

Give me Cliff Richard any day...
