Well The Skyhooks song is an Australian anthem of sorts, and I think Shirley Strachan (vale him) produces a great ane believeable vocal performance, in some way reminiscent of a less threatening Bon Scott. Skyhooks were far more entertaining than Sherbert as well.

Goddammit, people...it's not "I'm Living in the Eighties" OR
"The Eighties".....it's simply "Eighties". Fuckin' get it right!

Headin' for the Nineties, livin' in the Wild Wild West...

My introduction to Killing Joke came through this very song via its inclusion on the Weird Science soundtrack. Thank you, Anthony Michael Hall.

Living in the Ice Age -vs- Living After Midnight

Eighties pisses on both Living After Midnight and Living in the 70's from such a great height that it takes several earth years for the piss to actually land on the heads of either.

Alex in NYC rulz, or at least he did in the old thread I was reading that prompted me to download the 12" version of "Eighties". God created the number 12 and the dimension of length for a reason, and this mix might actually be it.

I remember an interview with Jaz when 'Eighties' came out where he was playing it to the journalist in the studio at deafening volume ('We don't want to hear it at girl's volume!'), shouting the lyrics into the interviewer's ear, and miming the guitar as he leaped around the recording booth.

Oooh, also, BEST.VIDEO.EVER!

Geordie as guitar-weilding whipped priest with lash-marks on the back. Raven as Mark David Chapman. Jaz as anguished, UN-bothering dictator (see below). Big Paul Ferguson as book-burner. Georide with exploding briefcase of cocaine. SHEER, UNEXPURGATED GENIUS!

Is it just me or is Alex reasonably keen on Killing Joke?

Thank god you didn't mention Bon Jovi's "Living in Sin." Though I guess I have now.

David Lee Roth "Living In Paradise" vs Gene Simmons "Living in Sin"

Easily Gene's, especially for the spoken word/phone call from Cher bit.
