Ken Laszlo "Tonight" / "Hey hey go"
Fancy "Bolero"
various stuff by Radiorama

Rudolf (Rudolf), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 07:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I most certainly second those two great Ken Laszlo singles. Also add some more Fancy, except he is from Germany not Italy.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, geir, didn't know that. I must say the Fancy and Ken Laszlo singles are great, but naff (Ken Laszlo's english is so bad it becomes funny).

"Der Da Da Da" by Domino (Medley of Da Da Da by Trio and Der Kommissar by Falco)

"Disco Project" by Domino (Medley of Mammagamma/Sirius by Alan Parsons and Another Brick In The Wall Part 3 by Pink Floyd)

(Both 1982 - Baby Records)

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Just a word to the wise, and maybe I'm preaching to the choir here, but if you don't own The Double Album by Tantra then please rectify the situation immediately. (Importe-1980)

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to think of it, those two Domino songs aren't really medleys, but mash-ups or bootlegs 1982 italadisco-style.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"I'm Ready" by Kano? I think that one counts, and that's a super fun song.

Softly Weeping at the Oki Dog (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Kano's I'm Ready is a big jam, a total club classic.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

one of the best songs ever.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

not a single one of these artists sounds Italian or names their songs in their native language. What would Mussolini say?

Thea (Thea), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Tito Valdez - "Tumbe" is actually Italian too.

Also, Sueno Latino!!!!!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

there's another thread on Italo-Disco, which mentions the stupendous:
Pino d'Angio - Ma quale idea

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I love this thread in all its incarnations, 'cause I've heard virtually none of these!

briania (briania), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

SpencerChow finally an Italian-sounding Italian song-title

Thea (Thea), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

back to non-Italian sounding Italian classics!

Klein & MBO - "Dirty Talk"!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Gazebo "Wrap the Rock"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 29 July 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

"not a single one of these artists sounds Italian or names their songs in their native language. What would Mussolini say?"

Mussolini would be disgusted: a sad end of the line for the offspring of the imperial Roma eagle etc etc.
About foreign pseudonyms, there are two possible explanations: 1) Italians think that other languages are cooler than ours; 2) Italians think pop music in all its incarnations is basically trash and/or easy money so prefer the comfortable anonymity of an English/ Spanish sounding name.
After all Sergio Leone directed his first movie under the alias of Bob Robertson.

Marco Damiani (Marco D.), Thursday, 29 July 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Why are none of these songs on S0u1seek? Surely there's some worthwhile Italo Disco comp. out there somewhere?

Softly Weeping at the Oki Dog (Ben Boyer), Thursday, 29 July 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

CAPRICORN 'I NEED LOVE'

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 29 July 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Mylo cover it live - so great

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 29 July 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I-Robot on Irma is as close to a good italo-disco comp as you'll find, but it focuses on mostly one aspect, the early 80s hip electro style italo, i.e. no Easy Going-Fear or Taffy-My Radio and it unfortunately uses some instrumental mixes instead of more fun vocal mixes.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 29 July 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Pino D'Angio, anyone? Ma Quale Idea. Balla!

Guymauve (Guymauve), Thursday, 29 July 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 29 July 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 29 July 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Haphazardly, I heard Pino d'Angio - Una Notte Da Impazzire around the same time. Almost as catchy -
