Bear in mind he's not a musical nerd, and neither am I. I just wanted a CD to give him with lots of cool tunes on it, most of them pretty obvious if you're "into" music, but not particularly otherwise. There are some obvious flaws, which I will let you pick out.

1. Nirvana vs Destinys Child - Smells Like Booty
2. Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Blockheads
3. The Pogues - Pair of Brown Eyes
4. Blind Willie McTell - Statesboro Blues
5. Scott Walker - Big Louise
6. Thee Headcoatees - You're Right, I'm Wrong
7. Simon & Garfunkel - Richard Cory
8. The Velvet Underground - All Tomorrows Parties
9. My Bloody Valentine - Soon
10. Frank Sinatra - Anything Goes
11. Mr. Scruff - Get a Move On
12. Nat King Cole - Orange Coloured Sky
13. The Beatles - Hey Bulldog
14. Clearlake - I Hang on Every Word You Say
15. Billy Bragg - The Milkman of Human Kindness
16. Bob Segar - 2 + 2 = ?
17. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
18. Randy Newman - Political Science
19. Nina Simone - Nobody's Fault But Mine
20. Wreckless Eric - Whole Wide World
21. Madonna vs The Sex Pistols - Ray of Gob
22. Schneider TM - The Light 3000
23. BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Reading Your Letters

First thought is that the Pogues and the Clearlake were fuck-ups.

I always thought the concept behind "Smells Like Booty" was much greater than the end result. "Ray of Gob," on the other hand, is a flawless work of genius. The non-mashup choices are mostly elementary, but, as you said, interesting to people who aren't nerdy about music.

smells like booty is awesome, and a much better fusion between 'black' and 'white' music than any rap metal band could ever come up with.

If someone made it me, I would be happy. Not heard 'Ray of Gob' but would like to...

Replace 'Smells Like Booty' with Wire vs. Britney Spears - 'Watching 4 U'

i like the public enemy, "pop muziq" mash-up more, or the emenem, "back in black" , and i woulda went for a way different velvet underground song, something not on a soundtrack. everything else looks great.
