Actually, I may be looking for a drummer, James. A friend of mine and I are looking to start a melodic but noisy post-rock band (a la Mogwai) with guitar and keyboard -- although I'm skeptical that it will actually get off the ground, since we're both in other bands. What are you into?

Anyway, ILM doesn't seem like too good a place for musicians to meet each other, as it's mostly critics here. Have you tried looking at the free music papers or another site that's more geared towards musicians?

oops-- a forum called "I Love Music" sounded like a grand to place to meet musicians to me. Didn't catch the "critics" pretense. besides, this is quite informal, worth taking a shot, eh?

anyway, lately i've been into stereolab, jessamine, jackie o motherfucker, mouse on mars, tortoise, seeing a lot of local avant-improv deals and i'll be at wolf eyes on new years eve at the texas ballroom(if it doesn't sell out before i get there.)
well, let me know if you guys want to get together, i've got a place to jam for the next 2 weeks or i can bring the set to whereever.

The couple times I've been at the jam session at the Green Mill after playing down there, the horn players are unbelievably bad for what I would expect from Chicago, but the drummers are uniformly smoking.
