I bought his soundtrack to 'amelie' a few days ago: mostly accordion based with a few piano tunes. It should annoy but it doesn't even come close.

I read in the sleeve notes that he has made several albums. has anyone bought them?

I've got "Le Phare" which is OK-ish...there's some unfortunate sub-Scott Walker vocal tracks on it but mostly it's pretty similar to the Amelie soundtrack. There's one really good song ("La Noyee"?) that sounds more like Kampec Dolores or The Ex as I recall. I haven't heard any others, but I was reliably informed that he was terrible live.

From what I remember, L'absente is good too Julio.

l'absente is wonderful, with some vocal contributions by lisa germano and neil whatsit from the divine comedy.

I stole L'Absente from someone recently and love it. Definitely getting more.

Julio, the official Tiersen website is at http://www.yanntiersen.com and it has loads and loads of (short) audio clips from all his albums, from which I have ascertained that the song I liked on Le Phare is "La Rupture", for what that's worth.

thanks udu.

robin- when you get it, post abt it if you can.

Julio, the live double C'Etait Ici is also a good 'short overview' of Tiersen's output.

Anyone that got all wet about Efterklang's Performing Parades would do well to check out Dust Lane. A lovely album, even though he's dropped much of the regionalism that defined his earlier recordings.
