Minor injury, thank god. The thread title is too alarming!

I haven't checked the link yet, but has Dave been implicated?

Kinks' Ray Davies Shot in Robbery
Attempt

NEW ORLEANS - Singer-songwriter Ray Davies (news) of the Kinks was shot in the leg while
chasing thieves who snatched a purse from a woman he was with, police said Monday. He was not
seriously injured.

Police said Davies, 59, and the woman were walking along the
Quarter's Burgundy Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when the
theft and shooting happened.

Davies was treated and released at a hospital, Capt. Marlon
Defillo, a police spokesman, said. One suspect was captured
within hours of the shooting and another was being sought.

The Kinks, part of the 1960s British invasion, had a string of
hits including "You Really Got Me," "Sunny Afternoon," "All
Day and All of the Night" and "Lola." Davies founded the
band, known for its hard-edged, guitar-driven sound and witty lyrics, with his brother Dave.

I wonder if he was at the Sugar Bowl. I bet he's an LSU fan.

Oh, KIIIIIISSSS AAAAAASSSS! ;-)

There's more hostility on the other thread. Get some here and it may become the more popular thread. Start by blaming Ray Davis for getting himself shot. That moron.

Sorry Dave, but that's seriously the most un-street smart thing I can think of, at least as far as New Orleans is concerned where you basically know everyone is packing.

I wouldn't chase a mugger in N.O. Hell, I wouldn't even go to that shithole. But not everyone knows that. As I said on the other thread - he's British. People aren't used to getting shot for minor shit like that. It's an American thing.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 5 January 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Said Davies: "Well I’m not the world’s most physical guy / But when he squeezed the trigger he hit me in the thigh."
"It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world," he added before taking a drink of his cherry cola, C-O-L-A, cola.

"he's British. People aren't used to getting shot for minor shit like that. It's an American thing."
he's actually in new orleans a lot, so i would think that he was aware of the possible consequences.
"I wonder if he was at the Sugar Bowl. I bet he's an LSU fan."
he was actually going for a walk in the marigny (bad idea) while the bowl was in progress.
what the article fails to mention is that after he was shot, he still had the wherewithal to memorize the license plate # of the getaway car, and that's why one of the offenders was caught. this seems like the city where rock stars go to get into trouble. eddie vedder gets arrested, that guy from blind melon ODs, and now ray davies gets shot.

Don't forget about the time Marvin Hamlish lost at three card monty.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Or that time Johnny Thunders OD'd and died.
