I always preferred the latter

It's alarming how often I'm agreeing with Jess these days.

just like honey obviously wins this, no contest, but the hate for the raveonettes displayed on this thread is uncalled for. they do what they do and they do it very well. i have "lust lust lust" and there are worst things to put on in the background while doing other things... very pretty distortion-heavy jesus and mary chain inspired pop, ethereal in a way that only scandinavian bands can be.

(i know i am arguing with ghosts, basically... people from nine years ago, who since may have either left the board or changed their opinions.)

the raveonettes rule, though this is hardly one of their greatest songs

it's pretty good though. i don't like that chain gang of love album as much as i like the stuff that they've done since then.

I think the hate in this thread predates the time when ILM decided they liked them.

"That Great Love Sound" is amazing. If imitating the Jesus and Mary Chain were easy, more people would do it. This song captures what sounds so great about the very best Darklands-era JAMC (which to my knowledge no one else ever did) but also is recognizably not that band. Utter classic and I feel like I should have voted in the 2000-09 tracks poll just to throw this a high placing.

can't help but feel that "arguing with ghosts" should have been the title of a jesus and mary chain album
