I wanted to do it for Christmas 2002 with "Sunshine Hit Me" by The Bees, but Astralwerks delayed its release.

This Chrismas I dished out 4 copies of "Clones and False Phrophets" by Badawi.

I bought Sam Cooke "Night Beat" for at least two people -- I don't remember exactly. And I've bought records for my girlfriend. In general, though, giving people CD's that you didn't make yourself is very risky. There's a thread on it somewhere...

Risky if you have an intimate knowledge of their tastes and collection????

Do promos count? no, but I spread the love nevertheless.

Promos are a different category. This season I gave out 2 dozen promos I purchased from bargain bins (I don't receive promos cuz I'm just, you know, a dude and stuff). I'm ALWAYS amazed at what in those bins. You gotta love one dimensional record clerks......that is unless you own a record store.

Tremendous Victor Kiam reference. I've bought and given away at least four copies of Mass Romantic. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Not because I was so in to them, but because I thought other people would be:
Squirrel Nut Zippers - The Inevitable..
Golden Palominos - This is How it Feels

I bought those records for a lot of people (most who had pretty milquetoast taste - these were pushing the envelope.)

.. Also, I bought Scrawl's "Travel on Rider" for a lot of people.
