I'm working on something about their new album. Who should I pitch?

How's the album sounding? I thought the two recent(ish) singles sucked majorly after *loving* 'do dallas'.

Everett True and Stevie Chick's respective new ventures would seem a good idea - Careless Talk Costs Lives had a biggish feature on McLusky some time back.

What I've heard of the new album (in demo form) sounds amazing, and you may be pleased to hear that there's no guarantee any of the tracks from the singles wil be on it. They may well have decided on a tracklisting by now, I'm not sure.

I haven't heard anything yet, I just know they went back into the studio right after xmas. What songs are you taling about hmmmmmm? They had a suck session with Albini before they sacked Matt Harding, and I don't know if "Undress for Suceess" or "Ain't no Fool in Ferguson" will make the new album.

Thanks for the info, Mencap.

They were *precisely* the two songs I was talking about. The b-sides too. They were so bad. I was so not pleased.

Didn't know about them sacking Mr. Harding. He was very good. Any idea what happened?

Are they back in with Albini again?

Yes, at the moment. They're just finishing this week I think.

The drummer was sacked cos he was very good but not very good enough, and they didn't like him very much, but that's their business really.

Bah. I got to meet and hang out with them, and I concerned myself with drinking all their red wine and vodka and gushing about 'My Pain and Sadness..." instead of finding out what they were up to next. Turns out it was me who was gushing, in between songs even, when I had to play a show the next day due to alcohol poisoning.

I'll do lots of gushing too. Their two full lengths are phenomenal.

Yes, but I heard 'Undress for Success' on the radio and it sounds weak and formulaic.

I agree. It sounds completely uninspired. I can't stand the bass line or how high it is in the mix, but I do like the part when Andy starts yelling about monsters, and I imagine the album version if there is one will have crispy thunder drums and a proper mix.

Go here: http://www.mclusky.net/frameset.html
and watch the video and tell me if it's the same version you heard.

Just comparing the drum sound to anything from "Do Dallas" makes me think this either wasn't recorded with Albini, hasn't been properly mixed/mastered or won't be on the new album.

Wasn't an Albini job, no - was done in Cardiff I think.
