I've downloaded but have yet to listen. Wifey will be psyched come morning, she's a huge fan. Anyone heard it?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

not me.
but this news is good, can't wait to get home and start d/l...

i hope they do something like the Liars did/do. do something quite different with the same ingredients and blow me away.

willem (willem), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

whats the name of the album?

Bobby, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

According to Reuters, it is called "Good News for People Who Love Bad News."

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm looking forward to hearing this, but with some trepidation as I wasn't thrilled by the last album. Hopefully 'parlour tricks' was an anomaly.

webcrack (music=crack), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll queue it up as soon as I get home, as I can't wait to trash every millisecond of it.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm interested. Not usually my scene, but I thought Moon and Antarctica was fantastic: probably in my top 5 of 2000.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you certain about this? 'Cause all I'm finding is fakes and live tracks.

Tracklist?

Simon H., Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i just downloaded two tracks that are supposedly from the new album -- they both fade out about 30 seconds in. both the same song, too. i recognize it, though... maybe i heard them play it live? or is it previously released? dunno.

Andrew Calaman (Andrew Calaman), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the only thing i've found that seems like the real deal is "float on" at 192 kbps.

Andrew Calaman (Andrew Calaman), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

just scanned through the moon and antarctica and discovered that the song in question is the last one on it, "what people are made of." oh well, i'm sure it'll be leaked any day now... just not today, i guess.

Andrew Calaman (Andrew Calaman), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The "Float On" mp3 in question is most likely the performance from the Canadian TV series "Zed".

Simon H., Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

the Float On i've been listening to all day sounds like a studio version to me. no luck on finding a full release AT ALL though ...

blah blah, Thursday, 8 January 2004 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

My mistake - while Float On (and a song called Black Cadillac) are on slsk in studio versions, the rest of the shit I downloaded (cleverly numbered as if they were in album sequence) were, as you say, live tarcks and fake-outs. Bummer.

anyway, like you say, it'll be up any day now.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 8 January 2004 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hopefully it won't sound like a major label release. moon and antarctica was v. good, but too long. hopefully this will be shorter/less produced/with more psychedelic guitar solos?

maybe i ask too much. i'm sure someone else will buy it and i'll get to hear it for months. not worried.

Ian Johnson (orion), Thursday, 8 January 2004 05:40 (twenty-two years ago)

All their albums are way too long (but all have a least a few great songs.)

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 8 January 2004 05:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I must say I'm really looking forward to this new album though. They have undoubtly released som great songs over the years, so this album surely will contain at least a few gold coins.

Um, this record debuted at #19. Can anyone explain this? Did these guys become famous without anyone telling me?

Keith Harris (kharris1128), Friday, 16 April 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 16 April 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

they get all kinds of airplay on the big alternative station in the bay area.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 16 April 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

that is surprising. how many copies sold gets you into the US top 20?

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 16 April 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

roughly, i mean

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 16 April 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they sold 68,000 last week to nab the #19 spot.
