If anything does come of this (and it's hard to think nothing will) then I wonder if we're all in for a giant anti-climax or a brilliant return to form. I wonder how Richard feels about this too. Brett is obviously doing what's best for his career though - this could be brilliant.

Surely I'm not alone in being exited about this?

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

electrafixion anyone ?

piscesboy, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

This is interesting news, but since both parties haven't made anything half-decent in half a decade, I've got a slightly sick feeling in my stomach.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Too little, too late, I'm afraid. Smacks a bit of reunion tour desperation.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

it's true, i was with the nme's source on the evening in question. i think it was actually december the 16th though?

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

piscesboy, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

More info PLEASE.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

otm. whydont they just leave it there instead of succumbing to dreams of a second golden age that will never come about.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Crack habits.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

More like coke, if you believe what you hear ...

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Brett's better without him, sorry.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

In fact, thinking about it I'm gonna correct myself on account of the fact that I loved 2002's McAlmont & Butler album very much.

I want Brett to stop faffing about and make some Scott Walker-meets-Squarepusher stuff now. And I want Bernard to join The Hidden Cameras full-time.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I want Brett to stop faffing about and make some Scott Walker-meets-Squarepusher stuff now.

I'm sorry but he DOES NOT have the potential for that. I tell you, in 6 or 7 years he'll be doing the state fair circuit.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

**otm. whydont they just leave it there instead of succumbing to dreams of a second golden age that will never come about.**

There was a FIRST golden age? Are we talking about the same people here?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i still spin bernards solo albums on a fairly regular basis. more than recent suede material thats for sure. and the mcalmont/butler album in 2002 was indeed mighty fine stuff ..

mark e (mark e), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i still spin bernards solo albums on a fairly regular basis.

Not actually play them, just spin them in the air while humming "Telstar"

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

More info PLEASE.

I love your enjoyably sad assumption we'd want to tell you anything to make you happy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Shut it Ned. I have full faith that this new partnership, if they go ahead with it, will be fucking incredible. All chart stars should look and sound like Brett Anderson, and Bernard - when he's on form - is simply unbeatable. His first solo album and the two M and B LPs are pure class.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry, I thought you didn't approve of anything that was going to cause you to grip your withered nutsack in ecstasy over the ideas that Holly Valance was going to lick your scabby ass. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I keep forgetting you're actually a closeted homophobe.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

WTF? Ned fuck off to South Central and dress up in KKK gard while you're there.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

You really need to get that schizophrenia looked into.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Thoughts of He-Man and Brett shall keep C-Man warm at night.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel like i have missed some history here .. one for the archives trawl methinks.

mark e (mark e), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Thoughts of He-Man and Brett shall keep C-Man warm at night.

Especially He-Man's mighty sword.

i feel like i have missed some history here

Be glad, really.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned is an arsehole. He should have met me when he had the chance instead of sitting behind his little PC and typing away ASSUMPTIONS of who I am. A complete knob and a cowardly one as well - his type need locked in a huge fridge freezer with only a packet of waffles to keep them company.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, you're just getting him all warmed up there. Better to just leave it.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe the insults to c-man should just stick to the threads in which he himself insults? it's a tough one

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Better to just leave it.

True, true.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

waffles?? how odd

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I just cut and pasted Ned's email to me...

>Look man, I would honestly like to meet up with you but here's the >thing - on ILX I feel more at home. In person I weigh 20 stone, I >have really horrible blonde curly hair and bad hygiene. My face is >covered in spots. More than that, the police like to beat me up on a >regular basis just because I'm ugly. I'm 37 and my mum still does >everything for me. I can't bear to go out. Please don't tell the >people on ILX this. My only pasttime at home is live web cams with >underage Thai girls who I promise to bring to America and make my >wife just as long as they show me some skin online. I'm lying to >them because I would not know what to do with a real, live girlie >but all the same it gives me enough fantasies to masturbate 20 times >a day which is how I pass my time. Anyway, good luck with your >travels.

>Ned

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned's way more fascinating than I remember.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

c-man is jealous

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, i was wrong to post that last post, it won't happen again okay?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

im sorry to both calum and ned for involving myself in a private dispute, i was out of line

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone want to actually enthuse about Brett and Bernie?!?!

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Piscesboy, does your email here work?

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Fucking hell you're a cock, C-Man.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Fucking hell you're a cock, C-Man.

Sesame Street - The Lost Tapes.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

C-Man, stuff like that was funny in, like, junior high. And it wasn't even really funny then.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck Bernard Butler! The REAL genius in Suede was the child prodigy guitarist they replaced him with! Y'know, the guy that did the absolutely fantazmo guitar riff to "The Beautiful Ones." Did Bernard ever come up with anything as mind-blowing awesome as that? No he bloody did not.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Richard was pretty good. But he never did The Wild Ones or Still Life. I kinda hoped Richard and Bernard would collaborate. That would be cool.

C-Man (C-Man), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"Surely I'm not alone in being exited about this?"

Probably quite a bit of excitement before foax realised it was only a typo and you hadn't been exited after all.

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

ArfArf, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)
