The front story has the title of the new Moz album, You Are The Quarry and some new song titles. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the live songs he was doing on the last tour of the southwest, esp. First of the Gang To Die, and these song titles are even more interesting....

So, does anyone else give a s&*t about the old geezer?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd avoided buying Maladjusted for years until I saw it for a couple bucks last autumn. It's not half bad, really. Even though it's been 7 years, I hope some of it carries over to the new one.

I saw Moz perform "First of the Gang to Die" on Kilborn and really, really, really liked it.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

So, does anyone else give a s&*t about the old geezer?

But of course. I await this album with glee.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

He really is needed more than ever - and my hunch is that the music rag cartels have decreed that critical acclaim is all but assured.

darren (darren), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Getting excited about fucking Morrissey releasing a new album in 2004 is about as relevant as if Journey made a new album. Or that one band that did "Always Something There to Remind Me."

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Not so. It's been proven that a solo Moz album is only as relevant as a solo Axl Rose album.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Getting excited about fucking Morrissey releasing a new album in 2004 is about as relevant as if Journey made a new album

this brings up another thread I've been wanting to start....see you there.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"You are the Quarry"? What does it mean?

"I Have Forgiven Jesus"
"Come Back To Camden"
"How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?"
"I'm Not Sorry"

Morrissey's country music link comes full circle.

I saw Boz Boorer recently and he played "Mexico."

Hank Locklin, "Send Me the Pillow that You Dream On"

Tell me more about Morrissey and country.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(but dramatically!)

peepee (peepee), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm, well, if the Irish Blood, English Heart thing is anything to go by, maybe there is something in his upbringing that explains the country connection. Unless it's just something he's recently decided is great.

Schwingung (Damian), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That's funny, earlier today I was wondering if we'd ever hear anything about a new Morrissey album.

I don't have high hopes for it, but I look forward to it nonetheless.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

it will be big in Mexico

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

la raza hearts moz, this is true.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Or that one band that did "Always Something There to Remind Me." Is Cilla Black releasing a new album too? That's what I call a double whammy.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

He's waited just long enough for me to get burned by him again, the fucker.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's hope no 6-min drum solos on this one.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked that solo dammit.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

S.G. was a massive let-down after Vauxhall and I, though.

BTW I think more and more that V&I is his best album, Smiths included.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked that solo dammit.

me too (and NOTHING ELSE on that album!)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

what is this drum solo you speak of? did neil peart guest on a moz album I don't have?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

the intro to the operation..

used to play on the speakers before shows start.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Most frustrating experience of life: Moz storming off the stage (forever) after the second bar of Shoplifters of The World Unite, due to too many stage invasions... (it's my fave smiths song)

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Drums at end of Speedway, however = :-)

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah i know it's rash gun-jumpery but those song titles do not bode well. He's always maintained a delicate balance between self-parody and self-pity in his best stuff, too far in the latter zone = tedious shite.

pete s, Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

But i agree with Tico, his absence is keenly felt, i think a lot of us are finding ourselves unexpectedly salivating at the prospect of new material.

pete s, Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought the title was going to be "Irish Blood/English Heart." I hope it's a double album. He should do a duet with Willie Nelson at his next concert. "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" maybe.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Chuck Tatum: I was at that show too - Greek Theatre 1997, no?

Well if not, the same thing happened at that one. After seeing him again at the first Coachella, I vowed not to bother ever again.

One thing I've noticed. Being Mexican-American and into Morrissey is about as unique as being a "white" American and into..oh, I don't know, Dave Matthews. (well, you know what I mean.....) And after hearing "Suedehead" and "Ask" at every party or club I went to in college, I realized it wasn't like the old days anymore. No, it wasn't like those days.

kickitcricket, Thursday, 8 January 2004 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you still killing Bill while he's ill?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 January 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Morrissey ROOLZ. I hope I like the new album, but if I don't, well, there's always the old stuff. Maladjusted was the first Moz-related album I didn't adore.

Aaron A., Thursday, 8 January 2004 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think those titles reflect any more self-parody than "Lifeguard Sleeping, Girl Drowning," "Satan Rejected My Soul," or "I Am Hated For Loving." In fact, I'm quite excited about a new album from the man, and the titles seem like good ones. Besides, there's something to be said for an artist who inspires debates like this over mere titles - no one is on the Modest Mouse thread reading things into "Bury Me With It!"

By the way, Southpaw Grammar is OBVIOUSLY his masterpiece thus far, drum solo and all. I just don't see how anyone could disagree.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 8 January 2004 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Good, I'm not alone.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 January 2004 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think an important question to consider would be:
If he goes on tour to promote his record, will he even show up for his own gigs this time?

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Thursday, 8 January 2004 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's gonna be a three-month tour, apparently, so one would assume...

Schwingung (Damian), Thursday, 8 January 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand Tico's obscene comments upthread.

I don't think I see why Irish blood would make you a c&w fan. There are almost certainly more country fans in England, or possibly even Scotland, than in Ireland.

The titles on the thread look good to me.

Titles - as a... 'genre' - are interesting me.

I think, or hope, that I will enjoy the new record.

Is Jerry the Nipper yet back to receive this news?

the bellefox, Thursday, 8 January 2004 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, I'm going to give Southpaw a 'nother try tonight.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Thursday, 8 January 2004 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

If he goes on tour to promote his record, will he even show up for his own gigs this time?

He was apparently on time and in good spirits during the US tour of the Southwest he did last year....

http://www.morrisseytour.com

has recaps of each show, or at least they did....

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 8 January 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be THRILLED if this was his first album since Southpaw Grammar (which is terrif, damn the hataz). But it ain't.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 8 January 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't the moz bankroll his last couple of tours all by himself? I think he set the whole things up too as he's without label. probably has something to do with tardiness and whatnot.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 8 January 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

As I was falling asleep last night I was sure that this must have been a joke. Perhaps it is?

Morrissey's c&w overlaps have nothing to do with him being Irish or English. Gah, do I have to spell everything out for you people? :) I was simply commenting on the similarities between the maudlinnnes of the song titles.

I would suggest that it is time for his own "Nashville Skyline" ('Nottingham Skyline"?) but I fear I would just confuse you more.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 8 January 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I don't think I'd get too excited about this rumoured release, although it's well overdue that Morrissey did a new album. One hopes he would find some new musical collaborators... although his long-time Boorer/Whyte type accomplices have been effective at times ("Vauxhall" is special, "Southpaw Grammar" is a brave move), I feel some new take would perhaps enliven at least the *sound* of his records. Think of how Vini Reilly refocused his sound for the wonderful "Viva Hate"... quite an album that. :)

Not heard any of the new material, though one presumes it is fairly good at least. On record, Morrissey needs very thoughtful production I feel... his songs do often seem very tailored to live performance.

Tom May (Tom May), Friday, 9 January 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

More song titles announced by Alain Whyte on BBC 6 Music (or whatever it's called):

My Life is a Series of People Saying Goodbye

Teenage Dad on his Estate

Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice

If Morrissey were to write 'Cemetry Gates' nowadays, he'd call it something like 'I Like Oscar Wilde More Than You Do'.

Rick Spence (spencerman), Friday, 9 January 2004 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

he should cover "Daddy Should Have Stayed in School" by Cheap Trick.

these seem like okay titles to me....I kinda like how stilted they are...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 9 January 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

From true-to-you.net:

MORRISSEY NEWS

9th January 2004

You Are The Quarry is produced by Jerry Finn and engineered by Joe McGrath.

Musicians on the album are: Boz Boorer (guitar), Alain Whyte (guitar), Gary Day (bass), and Dean Butterworth (drums), with Roger Manning (piano).

The album has been recorded at Sarm in Berkshire (England), and Conway Studio in Los Angeles.

Songs recorded on the session are:

"America Is Not The World"
"Irish Blood, English Heart"
"I Have Forgiven Jesus"
"Come Back To Camden"
"I'm Not Sorry"
"The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores"
"How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?"
"The First Of The Gang To Die"
"Teenage Dad On His Estate"
"I Like You"
"The Never-Played Symphonies"
"The Slum Mums"
"You Know I Couldn't Last"
"Home Is A Question Mark"
"The Public Image"
"It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small"

The album is set for release on the Attack label through Sanctuary Records in the second week of April.

Attack are also negotiating with Nancy Sinatra to release her version of "Let Me Kiss You" as a single. The song was originally recorded by Morrissey for inclusion on You Are The Quarry. Also, Attack plan to release a single by James Maker (ex-Raymonde) called "I'm Unbearable."

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

If Morrissey were to write 'Cemetry Gates' nowadays, he'd call it something like 'I Like Oscar Wilde More Than You Do'.

If there were a on the money one-liners thread I'd post this to it.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

on nme.com today they have a comment from alain white saying the album is like vauxhall + your arsenal. which sounds like my dreams come true, but I think a 'wait and see' attitude is appropriate at this point and time..

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"Come Back To Camden"

I really, really wish this was about Camden, NJ.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Better yet if it was about the Camden family on 7th Heaven.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 9 January 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

"America Is Not The World"

hahahaha

I cannot wait for this album.

It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small"

Is this a comedy album?

"The Slum Mums"

No! They're joking!

Mary (Mary), Friday, 9 January 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"I Have Forgiven Jesus"

I do love the man.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 10 January 2004 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

No-one has used the phrase 'crashing bore' since 1960.
It's pretty cool.

pete s, Saturday, 10 January 2004 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

"The World is Full Of Crashing Bores" is my favorite Moz tune since "Jack The Ripper"

As a whole, I like it fine. I think I'm just too old to feel the way I used to about him.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The album would be a lot more listenable if the production was better. Morrissey's voice is so high in the mix and everything else feels so distant that its impossible for me to get into the music. I have a hard time believing that the same guys who made the riffs on Your Arsenal and Southpaw Grammar had anything to do with this album.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

plus the album is so fucking slow it kills me.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Come Back to Camden is lovely, but J0hn's right about the production....the synth strings seem a bit cheesy and cheap in the context...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

anthony you should check out It's Hard to Walk Tall When You're Small, one of the b-sides from the IBEH single...it totally has the Your Arsenal vibe (although the verse chord changes seem swiped from Do Your Best and Don't Worry)...great song!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

John Cale was apparently rumored to be a possible producer earlier on; though it would have ended in tears no doubt, surely a finer product would have surfaced.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I know Pitchfork-review bashing has been done to death, but this paragraph of Brent D.'s insane review of Quarry made me want to kill:

"That's a rather considerable caveat to tag on the end on a review, but if you're listening to Morrissey albums for riffs and licks you're missing the point. Any instrumental bed under such incandescent personality and booming voice would pale. Envisioning the songwriter at work brings to mind a woman picking at an acoustic or a fellow hunched over a piano with a drink. The genesis of Morrissey music remains ambiguous both physically and in intent."

WTF????? Morrissey's best stuff usually coincides with the best music! How many great Smiths and early solo songs feature the dude SCATTING because the music is so great he's getting swept up into it? Has he ever HEARD an early album?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

or your arsenal even..

Didn't moz's band change a bit? I think they got a new drummer, but I wasnt aware if alain white was still around or not..

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

miccio otm although i liked the album (and production - its shiny like cheap shiny items)

christhamrin (christhamrin), Thursday, 20 May 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone who still doesn't own this but is thinking of getting the double disc version with DVD, do NOT waste your money. The DVD is the video, which is pretty lame, lyrics (which are unnecessary since you get the lyrics in a booklet) and 10 pictures.

Not that I should care what's on the DVD, but considering the price of the double disc version, I feel ripped off.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Thursday, 20 May 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i haven't checked out the dvd, but the store i went to didn't have anything BUT the deluxe package so I was kinda stuck...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 20 May 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF????? Morrissey's best stuff usually coincides with the best music! How many great Smiths and early solo songs feature the dude SCATTING because the music is so great he's getting swept up into it? Has he ever HEARD an early album?

Yeah, Miccio is completely otm. I really can't comment on the merit of the new album yet, I still haven't had a chance to listen to it.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 20 May 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

2 new songs not on the album:

Don't make fun of Daddy's Voice.

Candle to you

Sébastien Chikara (Sébastien Chikara), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

man that Candle to You song is fricking AWESOME!!! I guess it's a cover of a band called Raymonde....amg doesn't have much on them...

Does anyone have the 411 re: Raymonde?? (Ned maybe?)

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 20 May 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Raymonde supported the Smiths on some early dates. Their James Maker would sometimes join Morrissey dancing on stage. I seem to recall their was some suggestion of a relationship between the two of them.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Google reveals that I've got my chronology in a bit of a mix - they supported them during 1986. A pre-Raymonde James Maker danced on stage at their debut 1982 gig.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Raymonde was Morrissey's good friend pre-Smiths. He was a VU-style dancer for the first two Smiths shows, until they realized they didn't need him. He will be performing at Meltdown, I think. He has an album that I forget the name of that is fairly well respected.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Raymonde was one guy? Always thought it was a band!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

It was.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I see that Attack released a solo single by James Maker earlier this year ("I'm Unbearable.").

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

James Maker - vocals
Phil Huish - guitar
Derek Thompson - bass
Leslie Westlake - drums

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I listened to the album again today (damnit, I should refrain from posting about something until I've heard it at LEAST twice). My opinion is basically the same except the music annoyed me a little less and Mozz's lyrics annoyed me a little more. Some of them seem so uninspired, unsympathetic and pandering that I almost want him to cover "Jenny From The Block." As "First Of The Gang To Die" proves, he DOES love his public.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 20 May 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

scratch "unsympathetic" and replace it with "unendearing."

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 20 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz Phair did this a lot better on her last record

danh, Thursday, 20 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

OTM!!!!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 20 May 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone noticed how he only sings the chorus twice in every song? Punk rock 'n all, but it does dim the impact of some of it. The production's rotten, obviously -- I Have Forgiven You Jesus cries out for a more grandiose arrangement. And the closing track is just plain awful.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Thursday, 20 May 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't given the album a close enough listen yet, but after reading through the lyrics, I found it odd that there's two references to mooning. Just seems odd.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Oho - I was bigging up Raymonde on some other Moz thread. Their lp - 'Babelogue' - is v good! I especially like the song 'Solid State Soul' - M. should have covered that one instead.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's an interview w/them by Paul Mathur from 86 or something. One of the first pieces to make me fall in love with pop writing:

http://www.ijamming.net/Jammingmagazine/Raymonde.html

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

And the closing track is just plain awful.

it's weird....I see that alot in reviews, but it's my favorite song on the album! I think it's got a great chorus and it's so frickin' over the top and self-obsessed I can't help but love it.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The lyrics are terrible, but the tunes and singing are fantastic. His third best album (after Viva Hate & Kill Uncle). Fourth if you include Bona Drag.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Oho - I was bigging up Raymonde on some other Moz thread. Their lp - 'Babelogue' - is v good!

You know, I never checked out any music by Raymonde because I thought their name was so ridiculous. Maybe I should rectify this.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I really don't see the production as being rotten. If anything I think it's a nice change from Lillywhite, who was certainly more than serviceable with that mid-nineties stretch and all but still.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The production... Finn should just have made another "I Miss You" for the album. Or got Morrissey to cover "I Miss You". Whichever.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

The production is tasteful and dull, as it has been on every solo record. The production is not the point. The drums, however, sound great.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Babelogue was the record I was thinking of. Let's all become rabid Raymonde fans.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm still undecided on this album; there are some really good songs: "The First of the Gang to *Die!*" ("s*u*ch a silly boy...!"), the current single (which has actually got stuck in my head recently), "America is Not The World", "The World is Full of Crashing Bores" (the odd little "policemen..." bit especially), "Come Back To Camden" and the one after that. A lot of the rest has tended to pass me by on the first listens. This isn't a production that stands out, either positively or negatively. As Messr T. Ewing said, there's a rather surprising, excellent flute solo somewhere (I think track #5)...

Very difficult to compare actually; the sound of "Maladjusted"'s title track for instance was far more grabbing than most here. Yet there's a lot of average material at that album. There was however soem *great* Morrissey material like "Wide To Receive", "Trouble Loves Me" and possibly "Ammunition" & "Alma Matters" (bit plodding, but a decent single).

Tom May (Tom May), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Morrissey is on the TV now !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I really wish they wouldn't let Jools loose. Especially for people to suffer the excrutiating experience of being interviewed by him.

I bet they have to restrain him from trying to boogy woogy every song on the show up. "But... but... if you'll just let me sit at the piano...." "No Jools."

John Cei Douglas (John Cei Douglas), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder if Morrissey told Junior Murvin and Johhny Clarke they were "vile" in the green room.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

He wins points from me this time for this:

Jools "What's the best show you've ever been on?"

Moz "Badger Watch"

John Cei Douglas (John Cei Douglas), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not a huge Morrissey apologist, but that 'vile' thing really is a daft stick to beat him with (maybe you're joking, I don't know). As his recent, really quite funny response to questioning about it reveals. As does his choosing of The Cats' Swan Lake to go on his 'Under the Influence' compilation.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post - ha. I wish I'd watched the whole thing now.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"America is Not the World" sounds like "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" (the song).

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

America is not the world is pretty damn brilliant. FAT PIGS.

Chris 'The Velvet Bingo' V (Chris V), Thursday, 27 May 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I always wondered why in Estonia they said that.

(No I didn't.)

threw away all of my morrissey records after his manchester bombing comments on "immigrants" and told us how much he loves nigel farage. felt much better for it. though I should have done it after he called the chinese 'a subspecies'. new record will be shit, just like everything he's done in the last.... decade or more?

Never mind all that (well, ok plus..)

Etienne Records?

I mean I'm sure Bob and co aren't involved...

But a bit rude to not ask permission etc.

I predict that this album, like all Morrissey albums, will have at least a few really good songs on it.
