S. Mystikal 'Born 2 be A Soldier', and the whole 'Unpredictable' album. Master P 'Bout It Bout It 1, 2 & 3', 'Make Em Say Ungh''Tight Whips'.'Aint My Fault'
Classic.
Got alot of unfair criticism cos people thought it was artless and just crude business. But if you listen to some of the early Silkk or Master P verses, they've got this real grimy, raucous, skewed flow that is totally original. And we all know how heavy Mystikal is. Check out his verse on 'Make Em Say Ungh', it's mental.

The TRU album was pretty good - 'Hooty Hoo' was pretty damn great, and C-Murder was somewhat better than any rapper Cash Money has put out excepting Wayne and Juve (Don't know much about BG, haven't heard too much good from him). Silkk was tight too for being the young one of the group. They were ridiculous - low budget as hell, not too skilled - but they put out some good Louisiana music for a bit. Master P should have never made what Diddy did, but there have been worse movements in rap. Hell, the Big Tymers were awful ripoffs (cheaper Casio beats, worse covers, worse rappers) before "Still Fly" came out and Fresh started producing better things for better rappers.

I kinda forgot they weren't actually called "No Talent Soldiers." It's been a long time since I've heard anyone refer them as anything else. -- Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, January 8, 2004 1:07 PM (4 years ago) Bookmark Link

I feel like such a dumbass that I didn't really "get" No Limit in high school.
I sold pretty much every one of the 80 CDs they released in 1997-1998 at the record store I worked at, never thinking twice about any of it; and now I'm trying to buy them on eBay for $40 a pop, FML

I used to go apeshit to 2 Unlimited when I was about 9. I had "The Workaholic" on 7". Amazing this band managed to release at least two hit albums where every song was exactly the same.

listening to Mac's "World War III" right now. really solid, but I have a theory that No Limit drinking games would be easy (take a shot everytime someone says "I'm a soldier").
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 10 March 2012 18:35 (thirteen years ago)
WWIII is p great btw. it actually is more distinctive than most NL releases (which I generally like but some of them tend to blur together).
