I can think of lots of answers that are similar to yours dave q like liking pop songs made by old people I didn't really have the same love for as other people anyway, ie liking Lets Dance by Bowie or Emotional Rescue by Rolling Stones or Rod Stewarts disco songs. I mean in all those cases its supposed to be, the original moment was better (ie Exile on Main Street, Ziggy Stardust, Small Faces) but then I consider them kind of dull, then they get combined with pop 'crap' (though here we can say I am failing a bit on the 'y' part of the formula, you have an x and a y you genuinely think are crap whereas I only have a y that is theoretically crap (inhuman pop).)

Yeah. I guess this is getting even further from the x + y = crap thing but this morning I made a tape alternating 'Sick of You' (Stooges) 'China Girl' (I. Pop's version), 'Tight Pants' (Stooges), 'Endless Sea' (I. Pop) etc there is a kind of delirium in this sort of alternation
