This is her/their website.

Nothing there, yet, except a cool picture. Really really *really* looking forward to hearing more. It's on gabba, btw.

Whoops. No. It's not on gabba. It's listed there, but they're not offering it for d/l. I found it on slsk pretty easily, though.

I've seen her name as MIA and M.I.A. too. She had an amazing amazing track on Bpitchcontrol's Berlin 2001 compilation called "Factorycityelectro (Punk RMX)" which on some days is my favourite attempt at disco-punk ever - a bit like Simple Minds circa Reel To Real Cacophony with really shrill cataclysmic vocals. Plus these sharp, almost ska like guitar chords, almost reminiscent of The Police's "Roxanne". But it's much better than I'm making it sound!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 12 January 2004 23:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i heard it on radio 1 i think? well thankfully, i taped the song. it's dance-tastic.

lid, Monday, 12 January 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

mia and m.i.a. are two totally different artists.

stirmonster, Monday, 12 January 2004 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

it's M.I.A - galang then?

searchanddelete, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

No I think its MIA. The M.I.A. reference I saw was more likely than not a confusion.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

mia and m.i.a. are two totally different artists.

twitch right, as usual (hi, twitch!). the one in question has nothing to do with bpitchcontrol. agreed that the song is awesome, rad, dance-tastic, etc. a friend does her press, so perhaps i can find out from him what's up with releases and such.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, which one does galang again? mia or m.i.a.?

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Mia's (the Bpitch one) really awesome. I have the full length and its equally good as that single.

Xii (Xii), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I hallucinating or did someone 'round here say that she (M.I.A.) is Justine Frischmann's flatmate?

Sean Thomas (sgthomas), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

wheels within wheels!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It's gone all Pynchon...

Sean Thomas (sgthomas), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

hi lauren - it was good to see you in nyc!

mia is produced by steve from pulp and ross from fat truckers.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

you can see how the confusion came about !!

so...is it mia or MIA or m.i.a. ?

i'll check that site.

*mya* is the one who did 'my love is like, woah' and i must have spent an hour downloading her stuff on soulseek to find out which
one of her trax it was (none obviously).

so m.i.a. then ?

thats that cleard up, thanx all.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Her gilang is like wo!

I'm still laughing at my own joke here. Someone's got to, I suppose.
