Anyone know anything about Bent 'Programmed to Love'

The local second-hand record shop are twisting my arm to buy a copy. Anybody heard it? The reviews I've read seem to suggest something along the lines of the loathsome Bentley Rhythm Ace. Anybody know better?

I haven't heard it either, but I hear it's a kind of fucked-up chill-out album. So, maybe Bentley Rhythm Ace meets Air and Kinobe?

I think you should change your second-hand record dealer. Their customer relations policies sound appalling.

Oh come on Nick, surely you'd much rather go into a store where the employees are enthusiastic about the stuff they're flogging rather than the faceless chainstores that blight our high streets?? I know i've had my arms twisted, legs broken and nipples twisted into buying lots of great records by the friendly chappies at my local friendly independant record shop

sorry dr C i don't know anything about the record, just wanted to argue with nick :)

two weeks pass...
How does English psychedelic chillout electronica sound? I knew nothing about it apart from one review I saw from a writer I respect (and respect so much that I've forgotten their name). Saw it in a sale, bought it, love it. Although there is a problem for me in that track 10 has to be played 17 times in a row before I've had enough of it. Think Lemon Jelly crossed with a bit of The Orb, plus a few tunes.

Well if this is news, Programmed to love became my album of 2000 , discovered by accident and a collision with a listening post i rapidly became smitten .Now , love at first sample isnt a formula that affects everyone however this album had an instant spine tingle factor that went through my metaphoric(Euphoric ) roof . In short Bent have no "Rhythum ace" about them , far more chilled . The album has a well rounded ecclectic mix of instrumental and vocal tunes all blended with seamless cohesion . You will find great humor in this album as well . I rated this the best of class 2000 because its strengths greatly outweigh its weaknesses and most of all , any music lover can identify when a peice "Hits that spot" Hard to define , but many tracks reach that bullseye as far as this little head in a box is concerned. Its a quality album boys and girls , best heard , with the sun shining , the windows open and an overbearing sense of optimism that everything is alright ...of course , this is just my humble opinion.

Yeah, I'm listening to it now. It's definitely got some "quirky pop genius" about it. Very English, a really good ratio of interesting and catchy tracks. I would _highly_ recommend getting it - it's hard to categorise and personally I love it. Not much like BRA at all, by the way - much less cheesy.

Think Air + Portishead +Massive Attack + chilled, distilled relaxation. The weird thing about the album is that you can listen to it as a "wake up" tune or a "late night" chilled tune.....
