See? Jim DeRogatis is a prophet!

... And the Backstreet Boys have been looking shakey for a while, whilst record companies have taken to assuring us that the much reported CD copy protection on Michael Jacksons latest single is only on promo copies, not on the relased version, so please please please buy it, folks!!! One gets the feeling that if the record company is a little sensitive about lost sales on account of some people putting off buying a record because it won't play on their PC, then potential sales can't be that high in the first place. Especially with the increasingly front- loading nature of the UK singles chart over the past 3 years, it doesn't take that much to get to go straight to number 1, then drop off the face of the chart in the next few weeks...

BTW Is there a URL for this Jim DeRogatis and his "pop is dead!!" article?

Their album was good - probably the best boyband album I've heard, actually.

That's too bad-

"When the Lights Go Out" had this great creepy date-rape sort of feeling to it.

For some reason hearing glossy boy band voices singing "you will succumb to me" to girls in their early teens is interesting to me, in a macabre sort of way.

I don't really care about 5ive that much either way, but I just thought I'd mention that when I see this title I start singing it to the tune of 'Bye Bye Pride' by the Go-Betweens. This is a good thing.
