Noone actually does this, right? It's not as if CDs would actually make good coasters. They lack absorbency. But has anyone ever used a CD as a coaster? And which Cds?

I am at this very moment. But only freebie CDs from computer mags. I have a _lot_ of AOL CDs.

I use cd cases as coasters more often.

I take your point about minimal absorbency. But I don't dribble down the sides of the cup/glass.

Well, only if I'm really drunk.

The majority of the coasters at my house have been generously provided by AOL, Earthlink, and MSN.

I guess I should, as I have a quite considerable amount of burned CDs that failed, or that I have later removed with better versions (or original purchases...).

I've Used CD Cases To As Popcorn Bowl Coasters.
You Know Like When You Don't Wanna Put Your Bowl Of Popcorn On The Floor Cause You Like The Bowl. So you Just Put It On A CD Case.

Some jewel cases make good mouse pads.

So ppl use them more for convenience then as expressions of hatred?
Like, has anyone called a CD coasterworthy in a review, then actually used that same terrible CD as a coaster?

sym (shmuel), Sunday, 25 January 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I've used CDs as frisbees, does that count?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Sunday, 25 January 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Which CDs? Do they make good frisbees?

sym (shmuel), Sunday, 25 January 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I used an oasis single as a frisbee in my high school drama class once

Oh, I do hate AOL. The convenience came first, but now that you've mentioned it, I'll enjoy putting a hot mug on that CD much more.

Yep! At this very moment I'm using a Jamiroquai (SP?) CD that I found in the street on the way to work. Amazingly, the day after I found it, a coworker (whom I NEVER discuss music with) asked me, referring to a just-finished Jamiroquai song on the raio , whether I liked his music. My reply was to simply lift up my coffee cup and show her my coaster.

Also used a Slim Whitman (don't ask) disc as a shaving mirror.

Scott, Monday, 26 January 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I use the Thrills cd for one at work. What a waste of money.

Chris V (Chris V), Monday, 26 January 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Scott's story = clearly the best.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 January 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I've used cds I dislike to make art out of (via lighters, the microwave, etc.).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 26 January 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i tried to learn to juggle multiple copies of promos when i was in school--it's harder than you might think. these days an aol disc lasts a good 3+ months as a coaster.

B-but I must! Is this a new beauty travel tip I'm missing?

I use aborted CDRs as coasters, most of the time...and they're grand as frisbee missiles against irritating neighbours.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 26 January 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a pile of failed burned CDr's waiting for a good idea of what to do with them...

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Monday, 26 January 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

four weeks pass...
I hang free CDs in the yard to scare birds and deer away. I've only ever managed to scare myself though, when one of them catches a bit of light at night and I think "OH MY GOD! THERE'S A PROWLER shining their flashlight around the compost bin oh wait, yeah, those fucking discs".

Poppy (poppy), Monday, 23 February 2004 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)
