Barbara Morgenstern is the most wonderful artist and deserves her own thread.

not that "oh she is so wonderful" is a very good way to start a debate. But I just put on Nichts Muss again and God damn it this is the most beautiful icy emotional floating liquid stuff.

her remix of Smash TV's "Nobody" on The New Electro is also ace. the second song on Nichts Muss is one of those can't-think-of-anything-but-that-one-chord-change songs where it's literally all I think of for a whole day, sometimes.

Not a hard track to make golden, though. All the remixes of it were pretty excellent.

"Nichts Muss" is really good, and so were her first two records, especially "Fjorden". The latter containing the original (and superior) version of "Der Augenblick" that Justus Kohncke covered on his "Was Ist Musik?" album for Kompakt.

I'm just sad I couldn't see her on her US Mini-Tour that is happening right now...

Her full tour itin is the most enviable itinerary I have ever seen. Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Bombay, Taschkent. Now there's a proper routing for you.

Weird, "wonderful" was the adjective I'd first thought of using before this thread loaded. A friend of mine used to hate various complementary adjectives tinged with a bourgeois taste (wonderful, gorgeous) ... but I guess as a description it's true enough in this case, particularly when I'm listening to "Aus Heiterem Himmel," which causes me to wonder how it sounds so crisp and fresh every time. She's worked out a great way to meld organic with more synthetic sounds. "Kleiner Ausschnitt" is a really uplifting song.

four years pass...

I've been feeling this new one. Who's with me?

i have made a mental note to go back and listen to it, but it feels slightly laborious. i am not drawn in yet. i don't think i like her as much when she's too spacious, with wandering vocal melodies, like the thing on the thing she did on the last (great) monica comp. so much of what gets me about nichts muss is the blend and the texture and the pace.

should probably listen to the new one some more anyway.

still haven't heard it! I am sleepin'!
