Masterpiece in every sense.

"Violet" is good.

You are talking about the Hole album, right?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:05 (twenty years ago) link

Wrong and wrong. And the Reid brothers would agree with me.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:06 (twenty years ago) link

Anything closely related to Kurt Cobain hater!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:08 (twenty years ago) link

Anything closely related to Kurt Cobain hater!

That's incorrect, actually.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:09 (twenty years ago) link

I think she thought you were me.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:10 (twenty years ago) link

That's incorrect, actually.

Tell me how it's wrong.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:11 (twenty years ago) link

Well, I don't hate Nirvana, I just think they're ridiculously overrated.

I do hate Hole, however. And Courtney Love is an affront to the species.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago) link

So if you don't hate Nirvana, you wouldn't mind me telling you I'm listening to In Utero right now!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:14 (twenty years ago) link

Classic for singles, but Hole's masterpiece is still "Celebrity Skin".

And Alex is on crack.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:14 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think you should listen to them any more than you already have, Aja. You need to leave them alone and put them in proper perspective.

Dom....seek help.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:15 (twenty years ago) link

"Celebrity Skin" is ok, but please tell me, why would you "wake in my make up"?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:16 (twenty years ago) link

Because you've fell asleep exhausted.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:17 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think you should listen to them any more than you already have, Aja. You need to leave them alone and put them in proper perspective.

Oh Alex. The last time I told you I was listening to this album was the last time I listened to it. I listen to Nirvana albums occasionally. I listen to Killing Joke albums on a daily basis.

Alex, you do not know everything about my musical listening habits so don't judge me on them.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:19 (twenty years ago) link

grohcjhghgfj....anhhhhhh...

courtney love (latebloomer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:20 (twenty years ago) link

I just found out Courtney is/has writen a book about her life with Kurt. I think this is true.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:25 (twenty years ago) link

Alex, you do not know everything about my musical listening habits so don't judge me on them.

Nor have I ever claimed to, but it's well obvious you need a serious vacation from your Nirvana discs.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:26 (twenty years ago) link

I have you son of an idiot. It has been quite a while since I have listened to one since today. Do you not remember when we had that conversation and I told you I was listening to In Utero? You told me to break it. That was the last time I listened to it since today.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:30 (twenty years ago) link

"Wrong and wrong. And the Reid brothers would agree with me."

I hardly see how a pair that recommissioned so many rock star cliches would do anything but praise Hole. Blood, spit, and bad attitude - rock n' roll, kids.

JesusMaryChain, Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:30 (twenty years ago) link

The Reids wouldn't stoop to the level of dropping their trousers and pooping on Live Through This. That'd be too much of a compliment to Hole.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:32 (twenty years ago) link

Oh, and vacationing from Nirvana? Please. That's like telling someone they'll prefer Cuba over Fiji.

JesusMaryChain, Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:34 (twenty years ago) link

Live Through This is probably better than Outside the Gates and Brighter than a Thousand Suns and you know it Alex!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:35 (twenty years ago) link

Whatever, travel agent. Please change your name. You do not speak for the Jesus & Mary Chain.

Live Through This is probably better than Outside the Gates and Brighter than a Thousand Suns and you know it Alex!

Never speak to me again, Aja.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:36 (twenty years ago) link

Aw.

Alex, what is your problem? You even said yourself that Outside the Gates is garbage.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:37 (twenty years ago) link

But I'm the third brother! I'm responsible for about 2/3 of Automatic!

JesusMaryChain, Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:39 (twenty years ago) link

Jesus & Mary Chain on the radio! RIGHT NOW!!!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:41 (twenty years ago) link

I don't know if I'd go as far as to suggest that Outside the Gate is "garbage," but it's far and away their worst album. However,.....even with its myriad flaws, Outside the Gate still shits a massive avanlanche of brown from a great splattery height all over the entire Courtney Love oeuvre.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:44 (twenty years ago) link

Do you still hate me.

You might have met Killing Joke (you have right?) but you never had Raven protect you from fat, drunk, very, very tall for their weight Brit guys and perverted fat, creepy, high women.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:46 (twenty years ago) link

And that has what to do with what?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:47 (twenty years ago) link

He likes me more than youuuuu!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:48 (twenty years ago) link

Is this a "J&MC hate Nirvana" thing documented, or are some of us indulging in a bit of projecting? Honest question.

anode (anode), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:48 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think the Mary Chain would hate Nirvana (though I can't vouche for that), but I'm projecting that they'd see Courtney Love for what she is.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:49 (twenty years ago) link

At least Courtney can play guitar.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:52 (twenty years ago) link

Sure, she's playing at a very different "rock star archetype" than they're into. I was just curious because similar things were mentioned in Mr. JesusMaryChain's other thread.

anode (anode), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:52 (twenty years ago) link

At least Courtney can play guitar.

So what? So can Burl Ives.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:53 (twenty years ago) link

What about Jaz?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:54 (twenty years ago) link

What about him?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:55 (twenty years ago) link

Jaz has to be feed and have his shoes tied by some woman.

Oh, poor poor Jaz. It's a mirical he can remember the lyrics to the songs.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:55 (twenty years ago) link

Final straw.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:56 (twenty years ago) link

You know it's true. I still like Killing Joke more than Nirvana, dispite Jaz' disabilities.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:58 (twenty years ago) link

artrstre....jiz? cool...man? pilllsshchj..zz

courtney love (latebloomer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:58 (twenty years ago) link

Goodbye, Aja.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:00 (twenty years ago) link

You love me!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:01 (twenty years ago) link

With the exception of 'Lithium' and most everything off Incesticide, Live Through This is better than anything Nirvana ever did. Courtney knew how to have fun, even when she was being the archetypal tragipunk princess. Kurt was just depressing.

minolta (minolta), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:01 (twenty years ago) link

Alex in NYC should stop threatening people/bands/posters with violence. I think somebody has a little temper problem...web rage, perhaps?

counsellor troy donahue (latebloomer), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:14 (twenty years ago) link

Aww i think its cute.

omg, Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:17 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, because he's fighting with a child.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:24 (twenty years ago) link

His inner child

omg, Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:28 (twenty years ago) link

No. Me.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:29 (twenty years ago) link

I'm a little surprised Alex has no love for Hole or Miss Love at all. They seem more or less up his alley.

Sean (Sean), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:32 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, but Courtney doesn't have a nail gun, does she? Mismatched.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:34 (twenty years ago) link

I think he secretly loves her and is embarassed to admit it because of her image.

I'm wearing the same pants I wore to see Killing Joke. Brings back happy memories!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:34 (twenty years ago) link

I'd bet she does have a nailgun.

anode (anode), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:36 (twenty years ago) link

She should have used that to break that guys windows.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 1 February 2004 22:38 (twenty years ago) link
