My dad is going to Italy and France so i decided to get some help from you in ILM in what cds to buy. I already got my eye in Les Negresses Vertes, Echt, Supergrass, Mano Negra and Laurent Garnier but since i don't have much info on European music (except UK) you can tell me some cool bands

Die Sterne from Germany are rather good. i think their website is www.diesterne.de (you can find their cd's on www.amazon.de). I think their record company is l'age dor. They're kind of Velvets with a hint of jazz. From what I can remember.

Don't buy anything... spend your money on girls and wine. You can order anything online anyway now.

Including girls and wine. Therefore, why leave home?

HEYO!! Put on the soundtrack to Time of the Gypsies or The Underground, pour yourself a glass of port, close your eyes and you are in Russia, Hey!

Keren Ann: La Biographie de Luka Philipsen. The closest thing I would compare it to would be Portishead, but it has strong overtones of the French "chanteuse" tradition. Very pretty voice, and excellent "downbeat" type music. I bought the CD after seeing her on TV in Paris in June, and found it to be quite a serendipitous discovery!
