9. bun b - platinum and diamonds in a standard formation but-- it spells out TRILL when he closes his mouth.

8. trick daddy - i wasn't feeling trick's grill for a long time-- even obscure cash money that didn't go platinum had already upgraded to platinum. until someone put me up on its cleverness and elegance and everything else. it's not my favorite grill of all time, still at number eight, but there is something special about it that isn't immediately apparent.

7. ("mouth glassy, looking like i swallowed a mirror / brush my teeth with windex to see my ice more clearer.") he's got a twenty thousand dollar grill (unless he got a discount from his partner) and he drives a four year old mazda. but he's got a mouthful of beautiful grill.

6. juicy j - recently upgraded, i think, from a modest platinum grill to a full-on diamonds n ya face piece. and fangs! (because he worships satan).

5. lil flip - "what you thinking about for your grill this time? i done done a lot of gold and all these niggas got gold, let's go ahead and switch you up, know what i'm saying? you my best customer, let's go platinum."

"c'mon man, let's do it, let's do it. i've gotta do something that ain't nobody got in houston."

"now, hold on, let me tell you this before you go ahead and start, platinum is going to be at least five times as much as gold."

he's switched it up since the leprechaun. he's got that crushed glass look now, invisible sets (like, you can't see the platinum on the main teeth, the sets are invisible so it just looks like pure ice).

4. paul wall - this guy is the grill architect. he's done ball players, rappers, various rich people. he advertises on his mixtapes ("if you tryna get an iced out grill in ya mouth call . . .")-- so, you know he's got something nice in his mouth. he switches it up every six months or so. right now it's red gold, invisible sets, different diamond patterns on every tooth but still symmetrical. (even though he's #4 in grills, he's #1 in grill rhymes: "look out! i got a snowstorm on every tooth." "they think i work for kellogs! mouth full of frosted flakes.")

3. baby - i really don't know if he should be number one or two or what. the top three shifts is all pretty close. he's got a beautiful grill. platinum all across the front and bottom and each tooth with a huge diamond set into the centre of it. (check the cash money furs spread in the source with ludacris on the cover. he's got a coca-cola mink on and his mouth open and he looks like such an evil old gangster. the same picture is in the new one in the year-end wrap-up, too, but too small to get the full effect.)

2. lil jon - yeah, straight ice. a wedding ring on every tooth, very orderly, beautifully arranged. and his mouth is always open, too, which is very important. (david banner and t.i. both have paul wall grills that cost 30k but they never have them in their mouths or never open their mouths properly. if you spend that much on your teeth, open your mouth.)

1. mike jones!! - kind of obscure choice for number one but he's got the best grill i've seen in a while. it's very simple, not super expensive. it's just got a great look to it.
