Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

"I Like to Move It, Move It" for a van or truck and show a couple of growed-up fratsers carrying a couch down a narrow stairwell.

Huck Stable (Horace Mann), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

want = would sound particularly good advertising a car more than any other product

Broadcast 'Message From Home' (hatchback with twee/retro overtones in aesthetic)
MBV 'Soon' (durability for the hard-nosed businessman on the long rain-lashed road to the NEC)
Vitalic 'La Rock' (actually better for tyres)

'Motorway Mashin' -- DJ Shadow

Do these threads remind anyone else of the old Radio One ploy of inviting listeners to choose 'topical' songs on a given topic.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

That's so weird Steve.

This morning I was thinking of doing an ad for the Irish Driving Test which would involve someone getting into the car to do a test, and as the instructor sat in, turning on La Rock and playing it at full volume. Then speeding around in cliched white knuckle instructor looking terrified style.

Brilliant.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Anything by T-Rex or Eddie Cochran

hmmm, Monday, 2 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Joe Kay (feethurt), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Most car ads are terrible!

Leee Majors (Leee), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 06:34 (twenty-one years ago)

John Cage's 4"33'. (Or more precisely, the first 30 seconds of it.)that I fucking HATE car ads & avoid 'em; so, what could be easier to ignore than a totally silent commercial?

Actually, cliche or not, "Radar Love", "Born To Be Wild" and "Maybelline" would make great ads, and probably already have.

I've mentioned several times how hearing "TV Eye" in a Nissan commercial left me simultaneously disgusted and oddly thrilled.

Myonga Von Bontee, Tuesday, 3 February 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

...uh, make that "BECAUSE I fucking hate car ads." Silly.
