Anyone else seen this yet? Its for something called, "Sunrise" from her much anticipated by middle aged folks follow up to whatever her last album was called and it, the video, seems to be influenced by...what?...Teletubbies? or maybe HR Puff N' Stuff? Very bizarre...developing...

not seen it but Macy Gray's first video reminded me slightly of Teletubbies as well - Mark Romanekian oddness

Ah, I can't believe I misspelt the title of the thread. I blame it on strong drink.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

you mean strong drnki?

I saw part of that odd video this morning. She and a friend look at their reflections in a pond and start doing their own little dance surounded by teletubbie and sesame street looking figures.

The video set was rejected by the B-52s circa Cosmic Thing as "just not tacky enough."

Jones' hat is a tragic mistake we must make sure will not be repeated again.

Ew.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 7 February 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i she cute in it?

i thought the one where she's driving the car and everything is going backwards was dumb, but she looked incredible with the beads of sweat rolling down her face and the bill frisell solo was nice

haha old people don't "anticipate" albums, they wander through Wal-Mart or flip past an ad or hear it on the radio and go "oh! I didn't realize she had a new album out. I might go buy that the next time I need to go to the mall."

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Note the lack of impressive chart debuts of Enya albums compared to overall sales.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

She may still sell 20 million albums, but I can't see VH1 giving this video much play thank heavens. It is just to shitty. It did distract me from the song which I have no memory of at all.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The dancing was the best part. She needs to get out there and shake that ass. And kiss another girl. That'll sell some records!

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

by some strange cosmic coincidence (or the marketing arm of blue note) norah jones was just performing "come away with me" on france3. her voice sounded kind of thin except in the middle register, it made me uncomfortable. the song is pretty though

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

this video sounds weird & I want to see it

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 8 February 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 8 February 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

oops! apparently old people DO anticipate albums! or maybe a million young people just ran out and bought this album. or maybe young people are the new old people. or maybe the video is just tacky enough to make a million people who are neither old nor young just need to have this album right now.

fact checking cuz (fcc), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Was Anne Geddes involved in the making of this video?

Kim (Kim), Friday, 20 February 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

She is the Unchallenged Empress of the Kingdom of Bland

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)
