Form a common three-word phrase or sentence using album covers.

For example, here's an easy one to get out of the way:

Ray Dawn, er, Song?

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE! BOO YA!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:07 (twenty years ago)

Were your 'working out' bits making fun of me? I'm still chuffed that someone got it.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:09 (twenty years ago)

No, no, no. That was me trying to work it out. That post took me twenty minutes to write.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:16 (twenty years ago)

Or five minutes.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:17 (twenty years ago)

I'm kinda not getting this.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:17 (twenty years ago)

Is it PacMan Fever, pleasant?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:29 (twenty years ago)

wow, that "clockwork orange" cover looks a lot like that white stripes video. never noticed that before.

fact checking cuz (fcc), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago)

Yes, Kevin. And it's driving me crazy.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:33 (twenty years ago)

THat's a good one Alex.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:34 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and PACMAN fever was cool too.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:34 (twenty years ago)

I've been trying real hard not to use that 45 RPM cover.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:37 (twenty years ago)

I know....it's so easy. I couldn't resist.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm trying to figure out the one that starts with Clockwork Orange.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:38 (twenty years ago)

I cheated a little on that one. It's got nuthin' to do with clocks or oranges.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

What's the name of the Lou Reed album (that's right, I don't know!) is it 'play'?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Rock Hardy ain't talkin' 'bout love, uh-BABY.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:49 (twenty years ago)

Work n' New York? I give up, in a huff.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:53 (twenty years ago)

Pleasants last one was good though, still working on Rock Hardy's one. Armed under foot? Forces under earth? Ba.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Can someone explain the Flutie reference ... it's over my head.

Gregory T (tubesocks), Saturday, 2 October 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago)

Pleasant's comment is a clue -- he got mine right off the bat.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:05 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I got it - my knowledge of led zep is only a little better than that of Lou Reed. Also, I thought the title of the Elvis Costello album might be more necessary, because that's the British cover, and if you were US you might not have looked for that album for elephants.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:19 (twenty years ago)

That's a good one, Rock Hardy.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:20 (twenty years ago)

Hmm. I'm American, but the elephants is the only "Armed Forces" cover I'm familiar with.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:29 (twenty years ago)

Bugger!

Oh, here's (apparently) the US cover for armed forces
http://cover09.cduniverse.com/PhantomArt/192882.jpg
I think it was not to offend people during a war or something, so maybe reissues used the original artwork. THe US one is nasty.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:35 (twenty years ago)

Now it's just embarassing. Exclamation Marks?

Hahaha, good one.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:37 (twenty years ago)

Okay, I remember that splatter-paint version of Armed Forces. But I think there was at least one US vinyl edition with the elephants not long after the original release.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:39 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I think that's probably right. Anyway. I think that Yngwie Malmsteen (?) goes quite well at the end of that one, when I finally get it right.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:42 (twenty years ago)

Runs, Hits, Errors? Good one for the end of baseball season. (Holy shit, Anaheim is tearing Oakland a new asshole.)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 02:46 (twenty years ago)

I love the little thrill of recognition when I suddenly get one. "Aye aye, captain."

I still haven't figured out Alex in NYC's. "Raise Your Standard"?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 03:12 (twenty years ago)

Bingo!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 2 October 2004 03:13 (twenty years ago)

Rock, yes. I'm cheering the Tribe onto .500
Didn't get yours! "Ray Strikes Again"???
Aye aye, captain is great.

J Jonah Jameson - that may be my favorite so far.
Alex, that one is pretty easy: "go fuck yourself."

Weathering, you're close. On the 2nd version, think of what that first singer's nickname is.

I think Pleasant Plains has invented Google Pictionary.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 03:36 (twenty years ago)

Can someone explain the Flutie reference ... it's over my head.

Doug Flutie is a quarterback known for his "Hail Mary Pass." (why do I know this? I hate sports)

Pleasant, "Win, Lose or Draw" is grebt.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 2 October 2004 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Way more'n three words & admittedly recycled from the old "Cover Connections: Cause & Effect" thread, but I think it's worth repeating:

Ha, Leeeter. I sat her trying to tie Jessica Simpson to "bird" for a few moments.)

I don't even want to fathom right now what kind of Freudian mistakes I made in that sentence.
