it's out probably next month. he's already had to re-do it a few times. a bunch of leaked songs already are circulating already. the first single is out.
so, we aren't ready to start quite yet, but we're prepared.
in a month, maybe a month and a half, maybe two, this thread will be overrun with "oh my god, he's re-invented music" and "this is the doggystyle for the new decade" and "flip if you ever in tuscaloosa holla at your girl."

And you won't believe who else!!
it's completely generic pimp boasting that Snoop Dogg could do in his sleep, handcuffed, with a sock stuffed in his mouth and still rock the mic harder.
I guess it's nothing amazing lyrically, but, to me, his flow (esp. on the line I quoted), works so well with that beat.
― Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)
he can make anything work. he has a unique style. reading a lil flip verse, you can hear it perfectly in your head, where the pauses would go and the little parenthetical what??s and self-satisfied chuckles.
he is kind of like cam'ron, in the sort of elementary rhymes and all that. except he has "shy, cool excitment" and he's better in every way.
― cloverlandthug, Wednesday, 4 February 2004 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)
!!! but the tracklist says it's all just the old pre-album mixtape stuff and three or four new freestyles.

AllHipHop: What's the deal with your new album, Game Over? what can people expect?
Lil Flip: It's more energy in this album. I did some more stuff. I got A list producers on this album. The first album went platinum and I did set out to do that. I did that without A list producers. I got Cam'ron on the album on a track called "All I Know," I got Ludacris on the first track called "I Came to Bring the Pain." Pharell did a track and he did a hook for me. I got two Red Spyda joints.
Lil Flip: Making Moves
― William Wiggins, Friday, 20 February 2004 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)
Lil Flip: Nah, that's something we use to do. After Screw passed (from sippin) people kind of chilled on that. We aren't with that taking pills and all that sh*t down there. Actually the old folks started it, they drink it straight. Cats in Philly do that now.
AllHipHop: Yeah cats say Beanie, not to call him out.
Lil Flip: Actually him and me was going to do a track together called 'Purple Rain' on his album, but some kind of way I didn't get to go to New York and do it.

have you heard mac man by beanie sigel? you will like it. it's got pac man sound effects and references to old video games! (and if you kazaa for 'pac man beat' you can hear a rip-off of that beat screwed and chopped and used by various houston rappers [originally by mike jones on final chapter 2k3, i think]).

Yes! I remember reading about that song (it's off his 1st album right?)....then I didn't get the album, and I havea bad habit of forgettign about things if I don't get them when they first come out....I will investigate.
I liked Lil Flip's verses and flow as well....I'm no big afficianado of the new southern rap stuff, and I didn't really like him that much on LIke a Pimp or a few of the other little cameos I've heard (can't remember the names)....But I liked his flow on this....
I work on a Mac, and I cant' really download : (

now i like lil flip quite a bit and was googling to find the new album's track listings and previews, but i came across this page instead. this is very very entertaining...i'm sure all of you have ditched work or school or whatever you losers do during the day, to beat off to his album...prosperous lives you all lead...only person with their head straight is mo money for ruining everyone's day and 'devoted' thread..HA!

represent is the track i keep having to hear. it's an amazing beat and everyone comes hard and the color changing click gets love. flip does this little double trail-off thing at the end of each of his lines at the end of his first verse and it sounds really tight and springy. his background interjections where he asks himself questions or encourages himself are one of my favorite things. his flow is still so imaginative.

i was lying in bed wondering if i agreed with this review tonight before i got up and stopped trying to sleep. it did feel like a mixtape to me too but maybe mostly because most of the time when i'm hearing him it's on mixtapes. if i wanted a new flip album i could just hit slsk and type in lil flip and grab whatever flip tape i haven't heard yet.
i feel bad saying something like "oh, he's much better on the mixtapes" but it's true. he works better without limits maybe. i don't get the "sounds as if he could go for hours" feeling from u gotta feel me, i get it from the mixtapes, where it feels like he is going for hours without stopping. and he can say whatever he wants and rap about cars. and he doesn't have to worry about buying beats or getting david banner on a song.

Or you could pick up one of his underground freestyle tapes, the only one i've got is 'Platinum Now' which has the classic 'Today Was A Good Day' freestyle, but they're pretty much all the same really.
You might also want to cop some later DJ Screw tapes to hear some awe inspiring freestyling, specifically the first track on 'Southside Still Holding', where he flows non stop for about 10 minutes over the Wanna Be A Baller Beat.
