Does anyone think they have a chance of actually getting deserved stateside success this time around? They're set to release their album, Absolution, in March.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it very likely that Muse will get the success they deserve in the US, yes.

Ha ha there's an e-mail send on this - BEWARE witticism hurlers unless you want to be on the US Muse mailing list for evermore.

What little I've heard from them I've quite liked, but I can't imagine the slackjawed youth of my cursed nation actually getting into them. A shame, that.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Who the fuck is/are Muse?

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

they're the point at which Queen and Smashing Pumpkins collide

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

with unsexy results

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought they were the point where the success of Radiohead and desperate A&R men collide.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

radiohead and muse couldn't be further apart from one another if they tried. muse are closer to pavlov's dog than radiohead

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

don't tell the desperate A&R men that.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

hey pavlov's dog sold a lot of records in their time yanno

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

not in my country. but yeah a lot of people in this little bum of a town are all excited about these guys so I'm not surprised they've got US distribution again.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

they're the point at which Queen and Smashing Pumpkins collide

They're a thousand times more interesting than the Smashing Pumpkins, however.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

that's totally implied by saying Queen has been adeed.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

added. I can't type for shit tonight.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Except there's this small problem that the Pumpkins already HAD a lot of Queen in their mix. Though if you're implying that a Queen-influenced band plus Queen is good, ergo you should just listen to Queen and spare yourself the grief. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 5 February 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe matthew bellamy should grow a moustache. and some testicles.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 5 February 2004 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was Sparks and Queen and Motorhead (the bass sound)

Ian Grey (Ian_G), Thursday, 5 February 2004 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

muse vocals sound like thom yorke, but the music is much more rock based. they have a lot of piano, synth, distorted base/guitar
