could anyone knowledgable in japanese pop music tell me if there are any tracks floating around that are along the lines of britney's toxic? something edgy and exotic sounding perhaps...

i'll probably be asking more questions about jpop later.

JPop is better, and betterly produced.

by and large jpop is not better and betterly produced than toxic. the derogatory stuff people have kicked around about nsync's "pop" remind me of lots of jpop, that kind of calculated after-the-moment xerox effect. shiina ringo is great but if you want britney spears maybe try boa, the new and desperate R&B diva incarnation of namie amuro, or minimoni's recent "crazy about you" which is all production bells and whistles and zero content. if you want "exotic" then studied replicas of US pop probably aren't the way and also, toxic is rather good so don't get your hopes too high.

UA
Aco
Chara

They might meet the description of 'exotic'. All three are female pop singers with experterly produced tracks.
