Ladytron: Wayne Coynes nom de plum? Shimmy Disc's 1st good artist in years?

I only have the first Ladytron album. I think it's the first. It's got the weird illustration on the cover. It's called "The Ladytron". I've only seen one other, which has a new wavey tech-lookin' cover, which seems completely at odds with the style of 70s sounding tripadellic music on The Ladytron. Did their sound change? Still good?

Now, I know I can't be the only one that noticed this, but it sounds like the whiny, childish worbling stylings of Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips. And, not a little, a lot. In fact, if I was singing for Ladytron I'd feel guilty of ripping him off. But, I really like Ladytron, so I don't care. That is one album that you get your money's worth and then some. Shimmy Disc? Huh? This doesn't seem like a Shimmy Disc... and how are they even still around considering all the much better labels that recently went under? Power of Pussy sells that many copies?

Wow, am I late at realizing The Ladytron and Ladytron are two different bands. I heard so much hype about Ladytron and I kept trying to figure out how this odd shimmy disc record could be what everyone's so hyped on. Now, I see. It wouldn't make sense for people to be hyped on this who also hate hippy music and the flaming lips. It makes sense, however, for people to be hyped on another sassy girl electropop band. I think I made the right choice when I picked up a ladytron cd.

Wasn't Ween on Shimmy disc? I still have a coaster from when I bought the greatest double album ever - The Pod. Excellent mock leanord cohen cover with a gas mask added. As much hype as there was about that band at one point, another musical cliche I will throw out there, I listened to them before that. This was the only album I really really liked. Nice Billy Joel cover of Dr. Rock. -I am the Slallion...Man.

molly,molly,molly,molly,molly,molly,molly... yeah, the Pod was lame after a few listens. Not much to it, really. I don't think that was shimmy disc, was it? God, Ween, Satan was on Twin/Tone, I know that much. God, Ween, Satan and the country album were the best things Ween put out. The Country album is witty and well done all around and God, Ween, Satan is a long and talented album of riotous rap, funk and psychedelia, mixing the beastie boys, prince and david bowie up pretty well. Pure Guava was funny at first but eventually jokes wear out and the crappy production loses it's cutesy factor. The Mollusk is well done, but boring, too. White Pepper is beatlesesque crapola, not funny or moving. Chocolate and cheese is a better produced version of Pure Guava with a twist. In other words, it's not that great either and the lyrics are some of the worst they ever wrote. Never heard the live Paint the town brown album and I don't think I need to. Ween is pretty bad, but also pretty talented. I am glad they got some credit and recognition and some money in their pocket, but I am also not interested in what they have to say anymore.

UNGLE WIGGLY, dammit! THE MABUSES! RUINS! WEEN! JELLYFISH KISS! DOGBOWL!

Shimmy Disc occasionally had gems amongst all the Kramer vanity.

Well, I guess Ween was on Shimmy Disc then, eh? Still, is that not YEARS ago? Besides Uncle Wiggly, I dern't know the rest ye speak of. But, Uncle Wiggly was about 6 years ago, weren't it? I'm gonna go down to Shimmy Disc and apply for a job.

i think Wayne Coyne's voice sounds like Jason Lyttle's from Grandaddy... or the other way around.

two years pass...
any opinions of the Shimmy-disc The Ladytron album? I'm big on Kramer productions generally...this is around cheap in my neighbourhood but I can't find much info on it
