Inspired by the Ordinary Boys' disqualification for including a lousy free sticker with the single...

Tracy Ullman: They Don't Know (free fluffy dice)
Bananarama - Cruel Summer 12" (fully signed with free aint what you do 12" and wrap around sunglasses)

Qualification: You have to ave actually bought it (paid money - freebies for press/publicity do not count)

Also: Baby Jane Rod Stewart had a free adidas tshirt, had I known it had no "rod Stewart" markings on it I would have bought one. But no. Laugh?

I bought Snooker Loopy by Chas 7 Dave and it came with a free syringe. I don't know if that was intentional mind.

What about that Gaye Bikers On Acid single that came in a padded sleeve full of sick? Great way to decimate your sales.

I also have a T'Pau cassingle with a free sew on patch...

Didn't chart exactly, but that one Sonic Boom record with the psychedilic spinning wheel (part of the cover) was awesome.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 February 2004 06:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I was about to mention the Stone Roses one too, I still have the tshirt only I use it to dye my hair now. I saw someone offering 50 quid or some ridiculous amount for the casette in Record Collector once. Couldnt believe it.

I have a cloth badge that came with Sonic Youths "Dirty", and its still sewn to my sneakers.

Whoever bought the first Big Black record, all die-cut and including condoms, syringes, loose change and whatever else has to win this (it sure weren't me and I've never even seen one.)

All those limited edition Spectrum things are gorgeous, Spencer.

Schools Out had a pair of paper panties as a dust jacket. It broke some fire codes and therefor was banned. Great planned stunt to increase sales. Try explaining that to my parents when they found them.

Oh also, I have a PWEI 10 inch of 92 deg/something else that came with a really cool cardboard spraypaint screen, thats the letters PWEI in the shape of a gun. I wonder if its worth anything (its pretty much never been played).

? what LWB single? are the tracks otherwise unavailable?

years ago i bought a primitives 7" that came with free bubblebath, cant remember which song but it was post 'crash'...the general public were not exactly won over by this marketing idea tho

zappi (joni), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The initial issue of the single of "Rip It Up" by Orange Juice came as a double pack single in a wraparound poster cover with a free cassette of what they called (I think) "The Felicity Sessions" (or was it "The Formative Years"?) incl v. early / rough / live versions of "Blueboy" and a couple of others, presumably recorded wt the same sime as the flexi version of "Felicity". I've never seen these tracks reissuesd elsewhere, does anyone know better?

Anyway, that was pretty good.

? what LWB single? are the tracks otherwise unavailable?

"love trinity". the only other exclusive track on it is a re-recording of "is is and the irs" that didn't make the album

mark e (mark e), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It didn't chart, but I liked the Brian Jonestown Massacre single (Love, I think) that came with a little tambourine.
