...and if so, did you find it easy/worthwhile/profitable?

Eh, didn't get much return but usually I'm just selling crudulousness to them (I save the higher profile sellbacks for Amoeba.)

For me, I'm just tired of lugging a box of CD's to places (usually Academy on 18th Street) and having them balk at some (though, usually they're very fair). SecondSpin (which I only found out about last night) seems a bit more cut'n'dry. Either they list an album or not. No haggling/convincing required.

There is also spun.com, which works the same I think. It's good for the reasons you mention.

I'll look into that. Cheers!

I remember selling back a gift CD of some Grateful Dead side project to Amoeba in Berkeley and they offered me $6, then I said, "dude, this is like the Grateful Dead and this is like Berkeley" she said "okay, $7?" and I said "rad". That's about the entire extent of my haggling career.

It's the "rad" part that sealed the deal, doubtlessly.

Spun.com is a bitch to sell for. They nitpick the condition of discs then won't send them back to you unless you pay the postage. Beware.

Good to know.

nine months pass...
just checked out secondspin for the first time. they say they won't take discs that are stamped promotional. but does anyone know if they'll take discs that aren't specifically stamped promotional but have other obvious signs, like a hole cut out through the tray card?
