Worth my while? Dunno yet if its a proper -live- or a DJ set...can anyone help out?

not all that. i have seen them do both. the gig was rammed though and not only was there no room to dance, there was barel;y enough to move. so that has coloured my judgement somewhat.

where is it?

i saw about 30 minutes of a set once in detroit - i liked what i saw.

btw they harldy ever play live and its unlikely to be a live set since they dont have any recent or upcoming releases in the pipeline (as far as i know).

dj-wise, they're kinda okay - if you like them you won't be disappointed, as i'm broadly ambivalent, i find them quite dull

whatever. only heard twice live (dj sets) and both times were amazing. 'connecting the dots' in a way that gilles peterson wishes he could touch. a wild ride with no genre boundaries, and mixed expertly.
the bootlegs i have are also killer.
i don't think they're doing any actual live performances, it's probably just the DJ arm of the group.

their yo la tengo remixes are mindblowing.

four years pass...

new album is wonderful, best thing they've done in ages.

one month passes...

their amp fiddler - "faith" remix is A+++ 10/10 so i'm definitely inclined to check their newer stuff out

I like much of the Sonar Kollektiv's output these days.

anything in particular you'd recommend?

I understand your reservation winston . I wouldn't advise you to purchase their latest record, esp if you haven't heard their old stuff. However, this product by sc I highly endorse !
