kar120c, Friday, 6 February 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to be honest.

I like the Simpsons theme song, when played by a four string quartet.

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

As opposed to a five or six string quartet?

Mitchell (Mitchell), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

OH sorry!

Who cares!

I made a mistake! WOoohoo!

Let's all correct the 12year old child!

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

no no, only when all the instruments played by the quartet have a combined total of four strings.
so like, tuba, sousaphone, electric keyboard and ukelele.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

twas only a small joke. You seem to like to dish it out, no?

Mitchell (Mitchell), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you were 13.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

agree w/ dr. who :)

how come nobody mentioned FAT ALBERT!

pete from the street, Friday, 6 February 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

No!

I did mean a string quartet. You know, violin, violin, viola, and cello.

I thought you were 13. \

I will be on Valentine's Day.

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

well, your kid days are numbered, champ.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll start stockpiling insults.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah! But you're not a teenager. So you can't insult me. Only inslut the people who are around your age.

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm 16.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm 16.

If you're six-teen, why aren't you at school?

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Cuz I'm a bad-ass.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

1. "The Office" (a particularly sad cover of "Handbags and Gladrags" by someone named Big George)
2. "Mr. Show" by Mark Rivers
3. The old HBO "feature presentation" epic theme song from the 1980s.
4. "Freaks and Geeks" (Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation")
5. "Six Feet Under" by Thomas Newman (maybe it's just cause I love th show so much)
6. "Sopranos" = "Woke Up this morning / got myself a gun..." just for the little horn squiggle at the beginning.
7. "Twin Peaks" by Angelo Badalamenti. GORGEOUS.
8. "All in the Family" = awesome, and didn't they play it themselves for EACH episode?
9. "Cops" = "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle. So iconic, and, for reasons too complicated to get into here, I love this show.
10. "The O.C." = "California" by Phantom Planet. Got no excuse. Love the show, love the song.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Cuz I'm a bad-ass.

So, you're skipping school?

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't stop singing the Rockford theme. Which sucks, cuz I'm working on a review of a blues record. Uh, for my Grade 11 English Class.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Theme songs are ok, when played for the show.

It just really bugs me when, in the middle of the day, one just gets stuck in my head and won't stop!

Aja (aja), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

4. Gigantor

Nice!

5. Kids in the Hall (Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet)

The actual title of the track, trivia fans, is "Having an Average Weekend"!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Gigantor because I first heard it by the Dickies (superior version).

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I love how on that Shadowy Men album they put a song called "Theme from TV" on there to fool folks. I used to play "Having an Average Weekend" in a band. It's even more fun to play than it is to listen to.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't read anyone else's yet:

1.The Munsters (Electric version)

THE JEFFERSONS!!!
Good Times
Mary Tyler Moore

70s studio psuedo Jazz worked well for these themes:
Barney Miller
Hill Street Blues
Rockford Files

Cop Show Music: (get out that fuzzy wah wah thing)
SWAT
The Rookies
The Streets of San Francisco
Baretta "Don't Do the Crime, If You Can't Do the Time" Sammy Davis...what more do you need.

Deconstruction of a theme:
The Garry Shandling Show
Seinfeld

earlnash, Saturday, 7 February 2004 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 7 February 2004 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

omg ! i forgot 'Van Der Valk' (Simon Park Orchestra - Eye Level)
place #3

eleki-san (eleki-san), Saturday, 7 February 2004 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

my life is apparently mostly animation; witness the following:
Cardcaptor Sakura (all 3 seasons, even though most people hate the 2nd OP---i like the full version of it, but not the TV-size edit)
the Pocket Monsters OP (the Japanese one---the 4Kids English one is just awful)
Teen Titans (both English and Japanese)
Cowboy Bebop
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Invader ZIM
Twin Peaks (or really, almost anything Badalamenti has done, ever. well, i might not love that "Inside the Actors Studio" theme completely, but...)
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
The Brak Show
Space Ghost Coast to Coast (can you beat Sonny Sharrock? can you? huh?!?!)
Sealab 2021
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (even when i didn't particularly care for the show, i did quite like the opening theme. simple but effective!)
Millennium (the first two seasons, anyway. the opening, much like the show itself, got ruined in the third season.)
Pinky and Orson Welles the Brain
Blue Submarine No.6 (too bad the show isn't as good as the theme!)
Kaikan Phrase (music much better than show or manga. really. /\ucifer is quite good.)
Powerpuff Girls (both OP and ED and remixes of the OP and ED are quite good. though why no Bis credit on the City of Soundsville album, i wonder? seems a glaring error, really.)
Fullmetal Alchemist
Romeo's Blue Skies (it is cheesy, yes, but lovely. and i also blame Oniisama E...)
Macross (again, cheesy, but can't resist singing along. and random English is a bonus!)
Sam & Max: Freelance Police
The Tick (the animated one, not that other thing they did...)
Batman: the Animated Series (yay Shirley Walker!)

when i was little, i quite liked the Tom & Jerry theme and the theme from Punky Brewster (the TV show, not the cartoon).

drat, now i've given away my age. XD
