Strokes Live -- Worth the $$?

Tickets to see the Strokes in Washington, DC at Nation (mostly a dance club, with occasional hip-hop, metal, and hardcore shows) go on sale today. I've seen them play on TV and have not really felt compelled to go to their shows around the area in the past. However, my friends that have seen them on past tours swear they're terrific in the live setting. I'm not prepared to waste thirty bones on a bunch of kids looking good in cheap threads (although I'd pay twenty bucks for the opposite -- Interpol). Please chime in if you've seen the Strokers live and have an opinion. Thanks.

Hey, Ryan -- I like the Strokes records a lot, but live I thought they were no great shakes. They just stand there, and the songs all sound exactly like they do on the albums. And they don't have any rare songs, really, (although Pitchfork says they cover "Clampdown," but that makes me nervous), so the set is just going to be, you know -- 7 songs from the first album, 7 from the second one, 2 encore tunes. Shuffle the albums on your playlist and stay home with a 12 pack. Save the thirty bucks.

This is good for me as I only really go to shows to hear songs I already like played LOUD. The Strokes sound great live, but don't expect La Boheme - though it can be dramatic to see how inebriated Casablancas is.

They're alright. You should buy as many tickets as possible. At worst, you can sell them for 3x the face value.

They look so bored onstage, I can't imagine them ever being good.

I have five hours to decide if I want to see The Strokes live.

$30 is too much, at least if they have improved anymore since I saw them a few years ago for $10.

I paid $17 to see them a few years ago, it was alright, I would not pay any more.

I saw the Strokes only once -- right before their debut came out, in Providence. Definitely a good show, but way too short. They played every song on the album, but no more.
It was also memorable for Julian diving off the stage to punch out a heckler.

Thirty is stiff, but it's probably worth it. I saw them about two years ago; they were great live. I was surprised.
