Something banging and suitable for a drug fuelled party but also kind of electroey, I'm thinking rushy music like Legowelt or Vitalic or The Hacker or that kind of thing.

Or anything else which is really crazy and I won't have heard.

Cosmo Vitelli

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

who the hell is he Nick?

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

anything by Kiko, ian pooley 'rock da discoteque' (remixed by daft punk), anything by ellen allien and anything on her label bpitchcontrol, same with shitkatapult, t.raumschmere, almost anything put out on city rockers, DFA, avenue D, the eternals, adult., tok tok vs. soffy o, matthew dear, "london's burning down" by tiga...

mr.blair, Friday, 6 February 2004 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool I have some of that stuff! Kiko-Italomatic (Kiko and the Hacker Remix) is ace!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan, check out Sinema, a project by Kiko and a singer named Gino. Please check Cagedbaby, who is fucking rude (key tracks: 'Star', 'Berlin', 'Bucci Bag' Babytronix remix and remix of the new Benny Benassi). Check John Starlight, who is German, so I can't spell the track I'm thinking of! Try another go around with Mista Senghore (go on man, do it for me). Also, the Visitor - 'Our Lips Are Sealed', DJ Naughty, the Gigolos who you are of course familiar with, Klonhertz, Kompis. I'm sure the new Kitsune will be a source of inspiration.

And if this is for an actual party, I wish I was at it!

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Cosmo Vitelli has released stuff on Solid - the label that usually does French house, but he's not really french house, a little more experimental, sometimes getting into breakbeat and electro territory..

I would recommend the Tube Jerk LP that came out on Sativae last year, also the last couple Alter Ego singles on Klang.

pete from the street, Friday, 6 February 2004 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

haha me too, it is a real party, I can't wait!

(the cosmo vitelli thing was a joke/jab at my behaviour on this thread ILM beware, Pitchfork have a new weapon in their arsenal)

I like him alot.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

gotcha, makes more sense now.
I probably only read a quarter of the ILM stuff tops..
I'm too busy multi-tasking at my job to catch the rest ;)

pete from the street, Friday, 6 February 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

You're probably better off!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just listened to a snatch of what I think's Van Helden's mix of the new Britney (it could be thee Felix or Lenny Bertoldo, whoever). It's one of those electropunkdisco types and is OK, better if they'd done more to the vocal.

Re: the party - in which case Ronan, 'Star' by Cagedbaby is perfect - it's like a funky Lemon Jelly breakbeat track that's stolen the spirit of 'Star Guitar'. And it's kinda crazy. I've become like his ILM press artist to make up for forgetting to mention him last year when I bought those tracks.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I looked for it before on Slsk after you said it was good but I can't find it!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment. Try his website for a listen at least: http://www.cagedbaby.com/tunes.html

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, add 'old Fatboy Slim' to the description. No wonder Norman and Nathan signed him.

You planning on using anything from the Glimmer Twins' comps etc? I'm thinking of the Bobby O track they put on the new one and re-edited as well.
Also, have you heard anything on Crosstwon Rebels? There's Supreme Bachelors - 'S&M', which was on Jacques' Fabric mix, plus Kiki and Silversurfer - 'Etheric' and something by the Presslaboys that I can't remember. They've put out or will put out a CD comp as well - can't remember if it's mixed or unmixed. Anyway, www.crosstownrebels.com if ya need.

"Supernature" - Cerrone

LondonLee (LondonLee), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you heard that Laidback Luke mix cd yet, Ronan? Should be exactly what you're looking for: exhuberant, full on mix of french house + electro + techno.

Siegbran (eofor), Saturday, 7 February 2004 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

"Eighties" (Serious Dance Mix)

It's eight minutes of, well "Eighties"

It will make you want to dance, trust me.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 7 February 2004 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds good Siegbran, I must have a look for it.

That Crosstown Comp looks great, though the only track of theirs I heard was Sleaza which I didn't think was great, never heard it in a club though. It has Mandate My Ass by Le Dust Sucker on it though, which is a big plus obviously. I think it's mixed yeah.

Isn't the label an offshoot of City Rockers?

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 7 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

1. What's 'Eighties', Aja?
2. Siegbran has a point (not heard that CD) - you could cane Waves and the Cassius Muzik mixes too.
3. I reckon Crosstown is an offshoot of sorts - I think Damian Lazarus used to work there before heading up Crosstown. I vaguely remember liking 'Sleeza' (I think the 2nd release 'Electric Generation' by the Presslaboys was better, though I got some other unheard EP of theirs instead). I bought 'S&M' for 50p and only for that reason, really.

Barima (Barima), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

What's 'Eighties', Aja?

You don't know? Ask Alex in NYC.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

But heeee's nottttt heeeerrrrrreeeee. Tellll meeeeeeeee!

Barima (Barima), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a song... by Killing Joke...OK?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan, the new Dave Clarke single 'What Was Her Name' feat Chicks On Speed is pretty good - liking the (snippets of the) LFO and Black Strobe mixes.

x-post - thanks Aja. Shoulda seen that coming but if I asked Alex it might've looked like I cared about Killing Joke!

Barima (Barima), Saturday, 7 February 2004 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Re-edit: Damian was or is City's A&R man.

Killing Joke Eighties Lyrics

Eighties - i'm living in the eighties
Eighties - i have to push, i have to struggle
Eighties - get out of my way, i'm not for sale no more
Eighties - let's kamikaze 'til we get there

And we sang
You do it this way

Eighties - by day we run by night we dance, we do
Eighties - i'm in love with the coming race
Eighties - i've got the best, i'll take all i can get
Eighties - i'm living for the eighties

Eighties - i'm living in the eighties - push
Eighties - i'm living
Eighties - i'm living in the eighties - struggle
Eighties - i'm living

Eighties - i'm living
Eighties - i'm living in the eighties
Eighties - i'm living in the eighties - push
Eighties - push, push, struggle

Eighties - i'm living
Eighties - eighties - i'm living
Eighties - i'm living in the eighties - push
Eighties - push, push, struggle

Ronan: search Foremost Poets' "Pressin' On"

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 9 February 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i've mentioned this track a million times on ilm,but pannik by speedy j might do the trick
its not electro, but it is banging, and rushy, and has the most insanely brilliant build up ever

robin (robin), Monday, 9 February 2004 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll second the LFO remix of Dave Clarke feat Chicks On Speed (*) "What Was Her Name?" - twisted squelchy electro.

(*) - but not on this remix.

mike t-diva, Monday, 9 February 2004 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Ro, did you get round to using any of this on Friday or just have opinions in general (thinking I could look for some of this when I'm next in London)? Good to hear it went off.
