Does a cool place to hang out, and listen to good music with little to no geeks around actually EXIST? I've been to them all - the 360, Bovine, Horseshoe. Don't get me wrong, they're not all that bad all of the time - but they ain't hot, neither. Am I missing someplace? The MOD club looks like a costume ball.

I find The Horseshoe to be pretty down-to-earth most of the time. What kind of music are you interested in though?

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Mostly real punk, brit-rock, etc. Joy Division, Nirvana, Hole, JMC, My Blood Valentine, etc.

JesusMaryChain, Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't go out much anymore, but try Rancho Relaxo now and again, or, uh, Blow-Up. It's full of morons but it can be fun, too. Sometimes.

What about Communists Daughter? - i heard thats good.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

F Toronto though. I mean, really.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a shame, cos I was considering a visit.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I like it!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

As far as Canadian cities go, it's no Montreal. Or Halifax for that matter.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 8 February 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

may is OTM. My drinking standby is usually Sneaky Dee's, and lately the bands have been getting better (although I haven't actually been seeing them).
Silver Dollar is good too.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 8 February 2004 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

at least you're not in hamilton

astroblaster (astroblaster), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Amen, for that.

If you have to ask...

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

As far as Canadian cities go, it's no Montreal.

Thank god for that. I 'm not a big fan of dance clubs.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Mostly real punk, brit-rock, etc. Joy Division, Nirvana, Hole, JMC, My Blood Valentine, etc.

I assume the Hole is the etc. part?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I love real punk, btw.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

If he said fake punk I'd point him to Sneaky Dee's but Im not sure I wanna run into any real punk fans.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 8 February 2004 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

please, you know what I meant. 'sneaky dees'' sounds ridiculous. what does it look like inside? and where is the communist's daughter?

JesusMaryChain, Sunday, 8 February 2004 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

And there's no need to bad mouth Hole. Find me more heart, and I'll burn Live Through This. Thanks.

ken taylrr, Sunday, 8 February 2004 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

dundas, nr ossington for the comm. daught.

Haven't been there for a while, but the cloak and dagger on college was OK for a pint and some music.

pauls00, Sunday, 8 February 2004 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd say come out to our next FAP, but there are generally no bands playing and you'd be stuck with a bunch of nerds. (Music nerds anyhow.) If you're more interested in the atmosphere than whether the band is live or not, Green Room (in the back lane behind Bloor and Brunswick) is pretty cool with a good variety of music and a reasonably non-nerdy student population. I also like C'est What but it's not very punk.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 8 February 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

C'est What being DIY though.
Outside of cheap prices the Green Room hasn't impressed me at all. The service has been outstandingly bad, the food questionable and the music annoying more often then not. And its freaking COLD in there.

Who were they playing before The Meow Mix Song again? That damm RHCPs album from 2 or 3 years ago?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 8 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

As far as Canadian cities go, it's no Montreal.

Thank god for the that! it certaily lives up to its reputation for having the rudest people out there.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 8 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Music With Heart is there motto.
