I've only got the Threnody Ensemble cd. Orchestrated madness. What else is good on this label?

it's a label???? I only knew the song and the festival.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 9 February 2004 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think he might be referring to the song on the Shellac-curated year's CD. They are an interesting collection of compilations.

Even more so if you consider the three-CD set that you got free on arrival that year.

It's a label. The Threnody Ensemble and Jackie O Motherfucker reissues this year. Definitely a label - my Threnody Ensemble has 'All Tomorrows Parties' as the record label.

The Bardo Pond is pretty fine, JOMF kills it, and they seem to have a bunch of other good stuff (Vibracathedral Orchestra IIRC) in the pipeline. Threnody really don't do a lot for me however.

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Monday, 9 February 2004 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

The Bardo Pon album is lovely indeed.

I've not heard the JOM one - but I'm sure i will in time.

I was looking at that site earlier, and it lists the album as being on New Albion. So ATP is more of a UK distribution thing, which makes a little more sense?

I mean, the link on that press kit is to the festival!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 9 February 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

The JOM two-fer is an excellent reish of two of their earlier albs that, in the UK at least, have always been imposs. to find in shops.

Perhaps the best ATP-empire release so far was the set of 3 three CDs given to all attendees of the Shellac w/end, featuring a track from every band that played the fest

while we're on the topic, when is this years british one on,and who is curating it?

robin (robin), Monday, 9 February 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

(this is not just laziness on my part,by the way...any website designed post-1999 or so tends to crash my ancient computer)

robin (robin), Monday, 9 February 2004 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Two seperate weekends. First one - last weekend of March, one day each curated by Mogwai, Tortoise and Shellac (the three previous curators). Second one - first week of April, one day each curated by Steve Malkmus, Sonic Youth and the promotors Foundation. The second one looks better at the mo, but the first one has loads to be announced.

Andrew F, the All Tomorrow's Parties people run All Tomorrow's Parties recordings - it is a label, not a distributor, but it's just there to license stuff from foreign labels so far, I think. Go back to the site and click on the All Tomorrow's Parties recordings link - it's all there.
