Two of my top 10 albums weren't mentioned by a single other voter (Woven Hand's Blush Music and Martin Gore's Counterfeit 2). On what release(s), if any, did you stand alone?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Two of my top 10 albums weren't mentioned by a single other voter

Wow!

George Smith, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Nobody else voted for those great International Telepaths folks because they're mean. ILX must support its own! (There were others as well but this is a mug's game and I agree with George.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob Drake, Volapuk, Ami Yoshida

Actually, I thought there would be more.

dleone (dleone), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

albums-
motherfucking BONECRUSHER - ATTENCHUN!!!!!!
v/a - eastern conference allstars iii

singles-

motherfucking LIKE A PIMP REMIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Meanies. I'm just curious.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a band called Volapuk? That's BRILLIANT!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

GIRLS ALOUD!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

one, singles - Dexys

scott pl. (scott pl.), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I was the only one who voted for Katatonia, Virgin Black, Wonwons, and Ulver. so that's 4 out of 10. me and one other person voted for Amon Amarth and me and Don Allred voted for Groovski. me and 2 other people voted for Opeth. that's about usual for me. and i picked some stuff that more people voted for:Gaby Kerpal, Sun Kil Moon & El Gran Silencio.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and Lene's "It's Your Duty" on the singles which is a bit less surprising. I mentioned them both in my somewhat quixotic comments too.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't fucking invited, which can only be seen as some kind of anti-Italian bias. But, if I had have been:

Singles:
"Big N Bashy" Fallacy ft Tubby T
"Nada" Gold Chains

Albums:
"Five Dollar Bill" Corb Lund Band
"It Takes A Nation of Tossers" Pitman
"Blackmarket Boy" Fallacy
"Un-Thugged: The Essential Selection" Dan Greenpeace and DJ Yoda

I am very pleased to find out that someone did vote for "La Cantante Scalza" by Sandie Shaw. Fuck an anti-hip hop bias, where's my live easy listening fans at?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm genuinely shocked I'm the only person who voted for Ragga Ragga Ragga! 2003; less so about Triple R, which (a) came out in 2002 and (b) got some votes last year.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

My three: "Don't Wanna Try," "No Tengo Dinero," and "En el 2000." There is a serious Latin blindspot going on too.

(I typed "blingspot." Why did I change it?)

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Albums:
mcenroe - Disenfranchised

Singles:
mcenroe - "Let's Pawn the Bracelet (and Head for Vegas)"
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - "Mow the Lawn"
Sloan - "The Rest of My Life"
Veal - "I Hate Your Lipstick"

I'm actually quite surprised someone else voted for Evolution Control Committee's "I Want a Cookie"! Great track, but it was the only ECC mention in the whole thing, and I'm not even sure it was a single!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I was the sole voter on five of my 10:

Children of Bodom, Hate Crew Deathroll
Ephel Duath, The Painter's Palette
Gorgoroth, Twilight Of The Idols: In Conspiracy With Satan
Vital Remains, Dechristianize
Zyklon, Aeon

The most votes anything in my Top 10 got was 31, for the Mars Volta's De-Loused In The Comatorium. Behind that was Miles Davis's The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions (16 votes, including mine).

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

albums:

soundmurderer + sk-1 - rewind records

singles:

elephant man - "nah lick"
jammer - "vice versa (remix)"

i was pleasantly surprised to see tom include "bombs over baghdad" on his list.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I was the only one to vote for Ned Raggett Reads in the Almanac.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, they didn't really let me vote.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I couldn't decide what to put in 10th so I thought I'd go for something I knew someone else was voting for (plus it's a great song of course) - I had a mad idea that its fame might have spread and more people than just us might be voting for it too!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, they didn't really let me vote.

I was robbed!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

One album, six singles

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I at least had swollen company for 9 of my 10 album picks this year (last year, I alone voted for Trick Daddy'srecord; year before that, I was alone on Kurupt). Surprising: Only 7 people put in the word for Banner S&C. With all the talk about it on this board, thought it would do better (guess we're the extreme non-mainstream, huh?).

Chris O., Tuesday, 10 February 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

albums: jackie o motherfucker "change" (last year, maybe, but did not vote for it then), "e a d g b e" comp, "object set and motion" comp.

marcg (marcg), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

oi Dom, there's another Passantino on the ballot list! Just so you know.

singles:
Aesop Rock, "We're Famous"*
The Go! Team, "Junior Kickstart"

*this was a fuckup - one other person voted for it (crucial difference being 'feat El-P' vs. 'featuring El-P'). Weird coincidence: I went to grade school with him. Wasn't friends with him or anything, just sorta knew him. Crazy.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

A Frames - 2 (which surprised me)

Chevelle - "Send the Pain Below" (didn't surprise me)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that Rosemary Passantino? She's the token "of note" Passantino now cultbusting legend Bob Passantino just kicked the bucket last year.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Nobody else voted for:

Soulwax Presents Hang All DJ's Volume 1
Soulwax Presents Hang All DJ's Volume 2
Reverend Dan, "It's Getting Bongo Rock In Herre" (hardly surprising)
Snow Patrol, "Spitting Games"
Andrea Doria, "Bucci Bag"
Linus Loves, "Stand Back"

(Note that last year I was the only one voted for "Carnaval," too!)

Only one other person voted for:

DJ/rupture, Minesweeper Suite (that other person being the sexxxy Thomas Inskeep)
Jan Jelinek Avec the Exposures, La Nouvelle Pauvrete
Philip Jeck, 7 (Ned also voted for this, as mentioned)
Hot Women: Women Singers from the Torrid Regions
Flowers in the Wildwood: Women in Early Country Music (Paul Lukas - no singles, but a vote for TOBIN SPROUT)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

michael--i thought many more people would vote for La Nouvelle Pauvrete, such a great album (then again there were, like, 3 jelinek albums this year). oh well.

marcg (marcg), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a devil of a time thinking what should be my tenth single and briefly considered Sketch Show's "Chronograph" (no-one voted for it) and "Junior Kickstart" (sorry, Nate) before settling on the new Alicia track.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

This year all my albums got nods but Good Charlotte's "Young And The Hopeless," Kelly Osbourne's "Come Dig Me Out" and Eamon's "Fuck It" got ignored by all but I (though Eamon was pretty damn late in the game, I'll admit). Last year I voted for All-American Rejects (then on an indie), The Young & The Hopeless (full-length) and Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" by my lonesome. In 2001, Sugar Ray & Preston School Of Industry's "Falling Away" only got nods from I.

I LOT of the stuff I've voted for tends to only get 2-4 people voting for it.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

...Sketch Show's "Chronograph" (no-one voted for it)

h-h-hot damn.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

>Sketch Show's "Chronograph"

the album, 'Loophole', is growing on me. if it ever comes out domestically it'll be big news.

(Jon L), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, I'm the only one who voted for Luomo's "So You" as a single, big surprise there

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

the album, 'Loophole', is growing on me. if it ever comes out domestically it'll be big news.

It would require a critical rehabilitation of YMO in the US for that to happen, though it could. Maybe they could regroup and open for Kraftwerk...

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Triple Threat Many Styles
Celine Dion One Heart
Winfred E. Eye The Dirt Tier
Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f. Ying Yang Twins and Pitbull "Get Low (Merengue Mix)"
Black-Eyed Snakes "Rise Up!"
Celine Dion "Drove All Night"

Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I was the only person to vote for the Flaming Lips' "Fight Test" EP and for the Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players. That didn't surprise me. What did surprise me is that only one other person voted for Jason Mraz, who I thought would carry at least some cachet ...

Joseph McCombs, Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I was the only person to vote for Soilwork's Figure Number Five, and one of only two to vote for DJ/rupture (as the ever-so-charming Daddino pointed out above) and the Camp soundtrack.

But here's what I wanna know, and hopefully Chuck can shed some light on this: I voted specifically for "Mundian to Bach Ke," NOT "Beware of the Boys" f/Jay-Z. Why'd the votes get combined? Just for ease in tabulation?

Thomas Inskeep (submeat), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and Daddino? Let me lick you up and down, 'til you say "stop!"

Thomas Inskeep (submeat), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Albums
2 Noir Desir Des Visages des Figures Barclay import 12
9 (Sic) The Broklyn Beats 7 Series Broklyn Beats 9

Singles

8 Man In Gray Incommunicado no label

chuck, Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

If I had a vote (or was a critic, period), I would have been the only vote for Jean Grae's "Hater's Anthem"

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

michael--i thought many more people would vote for La Nouvelle Pauvrete, such a great album (then again there were, like, 3 jelinek albums this year). oh well.

This was the same feeling I got last year after noticing that Tim F and I were the only ones who listed Textstar. Jelinek clearly does not get enough love.

Andy K (Andy K), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and Daddino? Let me lick you up and down, 'til you say "stop!"

AWESOME!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i am mildly surprised that noone else voted for "bucci bag".

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, and Ned Raggett Reads the Almanac.

just kidding. sorry, Ned.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw man!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarai -- Ladies
Lumidee -- Never Leave You (remix)
[although LOTS voted for the original which makes no sense to me since it was the remix with the busta verse that got all the airplay -- i think that this was just a confusion in the tabulation or something]

Lots of my other choices only got one or two votes but I had company even with Ja Rule's "Clap Back"!!!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

both singles. David Banner "Bush" and Broadcast "Colour Me In" (which was a surprise)

i did mean to vote for the original Lumidee, as that's the one i downloaded and fell for.

badgerminor (badgerminor), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i am mildly surprised that noone else voted for "bucci bag".

It doesn't entirely surprise me, since the overwhelming majority of the voters are from America and not Europe, where post-techno dance music gets so much more play.

Three people voted for "Satisfaction," btw.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)
